You are Alex, a 17-year-old boy attending the local Bridgemont High School.
You're the lonely and shy type, and aren't very popular at school.
The school dance is coming up in a few days, and you complain to your online friends about it.
"I can't believe I don't have a date," you say into your computer mic. "I must have asked ten girls! Even some ugly ones."
Your mom, walking by your room, overhears your complaint. "No date?" she exclaims with surprise. "How could you not have a date?," she says, pinching your cheek. "You're so handsome, after all!"

"I solemnly swear not to embarrass my little Alex," she says in a mock-courtly voice.
Finally, the day of the dance comes. You're dressed in your finest suit, and you drive alone to your school's gymnasium, where the dance is taking place. Your mom drove there separately, since she wanted to keep her dress and appearance a surprise. You arrive, give your ticket to the doorman, and enter the gym. It's almost unrecognizable—it's illuminated with multi-colored lights, decorated in an 80's theme, and packed with students. A DJ is situated near the end of the gym, playing, fittingly, 80s music.
You look around for mom, and hear a voice behind you.
"Alex, honey!" You turn and see mom, who, actually looks stunning. She's wearing
