Exploring the forests of the world is something you never thought you'd be able to do for a living, but ever since landing a job at the Environmental Scouting Division, your long-time passion is now your job, too. Your current assignment has been ongoing for about two weeks now, a flora indexing mission in the bizarrely dense alpine forests of the Degorez Mountains.
This forest is easily one of the most enchanting you've been to in your life, like some kind rainforest that's learned to thrive and adapt to the chilly and dry climate of the mountainous terrain. All the exotic plant life that fills the thick undergrowth beneath the gigantic trees here is captivating. It seems that most of the animals here feed upon the sap of these giant mountain trees, judging by the feeding holes you've seen in the bark at the base of several trees.
You're in the middle of observing one such circular incision when the distinct shuffle of something moving through the brush emanates from your left side. It sounds very large, which immediately sends you into a panic. All the fauna so far has been small and docile, as expected of this environment—but whatever just moved did not sound small at all. The rustling happens again, closer this time, and you immediately move to hide in a large thicket nearby. Intrigued, you make a small peephole though the leaves of the bush to watch the tree you were just standing at.
This gives you an excellent view of the hulking creature that soon emerges from the vegetation; a jaw-droppingly large insectoid. Observing it closer, you see that the gigantic bug isn't just that—it's actually a monstergirl. The distinctly female upper body at the front of the creature clearly identifies her as a Soldier Beetle, a monstergirl of the forests you've heard stories about before.
She seems to be hungry, sniffing after something and drooling slightly. You assume she's after the tree sap you were just observing, but the bug-girl doesn't seem interested in it.
