Your name is Annabel, and you live in an isolated mansion with your little sister, Juliette. When you were children, a terrible tragedy struck the mansion's halls. You can't remember what happened - only flashes of memory of a red room. Afterwards, the mansion closed its gates. Visitors were forbidden. You and Juliette were separated to different wings. You lived in isolation, sinking your mind in romances and fairy-tales. Juliette stayed with your parents, and you do not know, really, what they did.
Years passed, and your parents died in a mysterious accident in the basement, leaving only you and Juliette. Years of silence built a wall between you two. You are nineteen now, and loneliness weighs on your mind. You want to get closer to her; after all, she's all you have.
You stand in your room, surveying the dismal view from your window, your heart pounding with nervous anticipation. There is a knock, and a maid enters with Juliette.
"Here is Juliette, as requested," the maid says with a curtsy.
You take a breath and turn. At the sight of Juliette, you momentarily lose your train of thought. Her pale skin, her slim build, her silky blonde hair...you forgot how beautiful she is. "H-hello-"
"What did you call me here for?" Juliette interrupts. "I was trying to look at the stars."
You falter before her icy gaze. "I...I wanted to talk. We're the only ones left in our family now, so...we should be closer, that's all."
Slow seconds slip by. Juliette studies the view out the window, her green eyes distant. Then, she shakes her head and returns her gaze to you. Her voice is measured and cold. "I have no interest in becoming closer. Don't interrupt my studies again."
With that, she leaves. You stand still, Juliette's frosty words sinking into your mind. The shadows of your room seem larger than before. You shake your head. You can't let things stay the way they are. You recall that Juliette was looking at the stars. Perhaps there are clues in the library.
