The world around me has grown quite boring lately. I am prince Victor Lux, first born and heir to King Harold Lux. My father the king has always been an ambitious man, he would constantly campaign against our neighbors trying to grow his web of influence or doing some grandiose gesture in the name of his honor. Because of this he was never home leaving the actual processes of statehood left to rest of the royal family including me. Lately my princely duties have stared to become agonizing and the usual hobbies local nobles participate in now bore me to tears.

This i why when my mother, the queen, told me I was to leave the capital to bring law and order to some recently conquered town called Yallen I was anything but thrilled. At least at the capital their were fancy taverns for me to partake in, but Yallen would be a poorer town that would still be rebuilding from the siege. The chances of having fun in a place like that would be slim. I found little solace that my younger sister, princess Abigail, would also be joining me. Abigail was always a strange girl that didn't say much, she would also not go out much or be social because she was albino.

When we arrived at Yallen it was pretty much just as expected. The town was rundown and still rebuilding. With the old nobility dead the place was somewhat lawless, one of my jobs here is to bring law and order with the occupying force we brought with us. The lord's manor was much smaller than the palace back home, but it still was a decently sized castle. We got settled in and I got to work establishing the government while my sister spent her days wondering the castle. Settling the matters of running the city got very tiresome quickly and soon the boredom came rushing back. I pondered how I could possibly reignite my passion for life again, then one day Abigail approached me with a concerning and devilish smile. She told me she found something really fun while she was playing and she wanted to show me. I complied out of boredom and followed her through a back staircase I hadn't seen before. At the bottom was a basement filled with different racks, cages, and instruments all meant for torturing people. I was shocked that this was below the manor and curious to why Abigail said it was fun. She smiled at me again and revealed a part of herself she has never shared with anyone. Abigail told me that she secretly fantasies about torturing people and how fun it might be, she could tell that I was getting bored with the simple life of a noble and that this could be fun.

I was slightly surprised that I didn't instantly object, but as the thought ran across my mind it actually sounded exciting. If nothing else this isn't something I've done before and with this city being ripe with lawfulness no one would question a few missing people. I find myself now getting excited over the possibilities and turn back my sister and ask, "Well if we were going to do use it who would we try it on first?"
