"Well, well, what do we 'ave 'ere?" booms behind you.
You freeze, not wanting to turn around, hoping to no avail she'll just go away.
"What's an elf-boy like you doin' out here all alone?" taunts the voice, coming closer. "I thought elf-boys knew betta'!"
It's true, you do know better. Your elders told you time and time again to not go out into the forest alone.
"I just..." you stammer, "I'm just... picking mushrooms... for alchemy."
"Look at me when yer talkin', elf-boy!" she growls. "Didn't ya ever learn how to talk t' a lady?"
You finally turn around and face the unruly-sounding woman. Her bronzed, muscled figure clad in bear pelts towers above you--she's taller than anyone that you've ever seen. Untamed black hair billows down her back, and she leers at you through hungry golden eyes. This must be an Amazon, a sort of wild human woman that you've only heard about in tales.
"Y' look scared, elf-boy," she says in a somewhat-mocking tone. "I'm not gonna hurt ya."
It's true, she won't hurt you. You know that she wishes to kidnap you, and take her back to her tribe as a prisoner-slash-husband.
"G-good," you stutter," I'll... I'll just be going now--"
"No way!" she interrupts. "It'll be much more fun if ya come with me. A lot more fun than ya borin' elf-town."
"Sorry, but I can't," you say, backing away.
The Amazon sighs. "I didn't hafta' do this the hard way. Yer mine!" she says, lunging toward you.
"Not so fast, savage," announces a triumphant voice. The Amazon halts, and you both turn toward a figure clad in brilliant steel plate. She's a human, a tall one for a female, with glistening golden hair and piercing blue eyes, and holds a sword and shield at the ready.
"Let him go," the knightly woman commands.
"He's mine, Paladin," the Amazon sneers.
Why would a paladin come to the aid of an elf? Nevertheless, you're glad she showed up. She moves to stand in between you and the Amazon.
"Tch!" the Amazon spits, drawing her huge axe. "Feck off, ya tin-can git!"
