You eat in silence, enjoying the quiet breeze on the school roof. People technically aren't allowed up here, so it's a place where you aren't bothered. The sun is warm but not too bright, and the scent of cherry blossoms floats on the spring breeze, along with the sound of the younger kids playing on the playground below. You try to come up here most days — when it's not raining, of course — to eat lunch and have a bit of time away from everyone else in your classes. You don't know what you'd do without such a break to help your ragged nerves.
Your tranquility is shattered by the sound of the door to the roof opening suddenly, accompanied by the sound of young girls giggling. You groan internally. You'd hoped to be safe from them here, but apparently not. The group of little girls were from the elementary school that your school shared a playground with. You'd heard they'd been causing a ruckus for a while: playing pranks, trying to pants people, and overall be a nuisance; these were second- and third-hand accounts, though, since you typically spent your time alone.
You didn't dislike kids — on the contrary, you'd often spend time at the playground in the later afternoon to keep an eye on your younger sister, after most people had gone home and it was quieter. For all you knew, you'd likely played with some of them before, completely unaware of the mischief they'd been getting into.
There were also rumors that this gang(if it could be called such) had tried to do things that were...far more mature and immoral than kids their age should be aware of, but it was hard to believe a gang of elementary schoolers could do such a thing. Then again, despite the fact they shouldn't even be able to get inside the high school building, it was clear they'd managed to sneak in and climb all the way up to the roof regardless. But what would they want to be doing on the roof?
"There he is!" one of them says loudly, as the group comes running toward you. They surround you
