"Hurry it up in there, come on!" She knocks against the wooden wall. "I didn't light a spark under your ass just for you to keep hiding!"
It is hard to believe that Surge convinced you to actually do this. From her intense threats to half-hearted 'requests' that she bombarded you with, it's only inevitable that you give in to the feisty tenrec. The simple request surprises you at first, then fills you with embarrassment when you realize you'll be in public. You emerge out from the change booth onto the dark wood platform with unsteady steps, arms crossing one another as you hug yourself; it did little to protect your skin against the unforgiving sun above.
Surge leans against a white wall in front of you, her gloved hands in the pockets of her airy pants. Unlike you, she's still in her everyday outfit, wearing a black t-shirt torn at the sleeves. In the daylight her green fur takes on a brighter hue, her eyes a vivid sky blue.
You look down at your pair of swimming trunks, your only pair of clothing, inefficient covering when outside. "How do I look?" you ask, frowning at your own abashed tone.
"Come on! At least have some confidence!" Surge shouts, leaning forward to get a better look. Her brow pinch together in concentration as her eyes wander the lines of your muscled chest down to your waist. "You're not bad lookin' to boot. There's that going for you." She rubs her chin with her gloved pointer finger and thumb curiously, her smile drawing back her lips to reveal her sharp teeth.
A strong gust of wind hits you, sending sand everywhere. Your feet scuff the surface of the platform as you try to balance yourself, letting out a groan. "This was a terrible idea," you huff. "I should've said no to you."
"It's not like I'm going to force you to do anything weird." Surge pushes herself off the wall beside you and rolls her shoulders. "Chillax, bro. This'll be fun!"
You doubt that very much. If anyone were to see you right now, they'd probably give you dirty looks and angry shouts before running you off the beach. Being the only human on Mobius isn't easy; you got by fairly well despite your circumstances. Sure, there's been times you wish you weren't here, being gaped at like a weird monster that emerged from some dark forest is unpleasant. Yet Surge is doing well in making those moments fewer and farther between.
"Maybe." you let your arms fall to your sides. "Do you have a place in mind we should go to first?"
"Nope! We're going to play this by ear." The swiftness of her response causes you to flinch. She captures your wrist in her hand, curling her fingers around it in a firm hold. "Trust me on this. It'll be great! Just you watch!" She starts tugging you forward, dragging you along behind her.
