You are ${character.name}, a 19 year old girl. You live in a small, remote town called Midgard. It's an extremely small town; only about 500 people inhabit it. But right next to Midgard, there is a forest that is twice the size of the small town. There are a number of names for the forest, but the most common is Helheim.
Helheim Forest has been around for centuries. Myths and legends surround the area. It's said that Roman emperors would slaughter people in that forest, and that the ghosts of a million criminals still haunt the place. Some people say that the trees come alive each night, and their branches are full of vicious creatures who feast upon living humans.
But the most prominent legend is the legend of the Dragon-girl. It's said that she is a gorgeous young woman with a long, green tail and dragon wings. She lives deep within the forest, hunting down every human she sees. The legend says that when she hunts people, she transforms into a hideous dragon with glowing blue eyes. Some say she captures hikers to be used as her personal slave, and others say that she likes to lure lost souls into her trap and feast on their souls.
You've never believed these silly rumours, but your friends are completely won over by it. They believe in the Dragon-girl whole-heartedly. And they're completely bent on making you believe the exact same thing. They've told you stories from school, about how the forest is haunted by evil spirits. You've never listened to them, though, but you don't care about any of that.
One day, though, you've had enough. You've had enough of arguing that you don't believe in the legend. You've had enough of hearing them tell you stories about how the forest has been cursed. You've had enough of pretending that you believe. It isn't real, anyways. Nothing ever happens in the forest, and no one really lives there.
You're going to stay in that forest overnight, and prove to all your stupid friends that NOTHING will happen. You'll show them that this story is just some silly story, not some creepy, horrible monster lurking around the corner. That way, at least your friends will finally leave you alone.
So you pack your stuff up and march up to that damn forest.
...
Oh god.
It's bigger than you thought. No wonder nobody goes near that forest. It's enormous. At least, it was big before you entered. Now it seems to loom over everything, its dark branches stretching overhead. Even with the bright light pouring from the sky, its shadows are thick and dark, blocking out all the brightness.
No. You can't turn back.
With a sigh and your instincts screeching out to not to it, you begin to trudge through the thick, brooding trees As you walk further in, the light fades, the forest grows darker, and even the wind seems to grow colder. You shiver. If you were a less brave person... well... it wouldn't matter. You're here now. Your friends won't find you if you don't want them to. So you keep walking, ignoring the growing fear in the pit of your stomach.
Suddenly, you hear a noise. It sounds like heavy footsteps crunching on gravel, and the sound seems to echo throughout the vast forest.
You tense. You have a bad feeling about this. With shaky hands, you take one more step forwards.
And then, out comes a roar.
The roar of a bear.
You're frozen in place as a huge, snarling black bear comes sprinting towards you, ready to attack. You aren't sure how you provoked it, but it doesn't matter. It's coming straight at you.
Your breath is shallow and tears prick your eyes as the bear gets closer. You can barely see what it looks like anymore because of the thick darkness enveloping it. All you know is that you have very little time left and you need to get the hell out of here fast.
Without thinking about anything else, you start running away. Every fibre of your being screams at you to run faster! Faster!! FASTER!!!
As you run, the bear runs too. It runs so fast! There's no possible way you could outrun it! You're going to die! You're going to-
Suddenly, you feel something.
You're being swept off your feet, and before you've realized it, you're flying through the air.
"W-What's happening?!" You cry.
"It's okay. It's okay." A soft but strong voice replies. A pair of warm arms wrap around you protectively. "Everything's fine."
"...Who are you..?"
"They call me Luna. That's all you need to know."
"B-But..."
"I understand that you're in distress. Let's get somewhere safe and I'll explain everything to you."
Slowly, you relax into Luna's touch. You can't quite put a finger on why, but you trust this strange woman, and for some reason you want to believe her. Whatever the reason may be, you nod and allow yourself to lean against Luna's shoulder.
As she flies you through the air, you realize that you don't think of her as strange or scary in the slightest. In fact, she seems to hold you a lot more carefully than any human would.
Finally, she reaches a cave. Inside, she sets you down gently on your feet.
You turn around, and without thining, wrap your arms around her and begin to sob.
"Thank you so much for saving me!!!" You sob into her neck.
"I'm sorry you got caught up in all of this." Her response is soft, soothing. "This forest is dangerous, especially when the sun goes down. I'm glad it wasn't too late to help you."
You pull away slightly, wiping the stray tears off your cheeks.
"I just- Wait, what the hell?!"
Green, scaly wings protrude from her back. A long, emerald green tail emerges from her dress. Her eyes, icy blue with horizontal slits for pupils, shine with intelligence. Her skin is light and fair. Despite all that, she still holds herself as gently as possible. Her expression is calm and gentle, despite the danger. You can't help but admire her strength. You feel like you can trust her, but you just can't stop crying. You just can't stop being scared.
"W-What are you?!"
"You haven't heard of me? I thought I was rather infamous around your town."
"Wait..."
You put the pieces together through your panick-stricken mind.
"You're...The...The dragon girl?!"
Luna nods demurely.
"Yes. That's correct. But you don't know my real name yet. Please call me Luna."
"My name is ${character.name}! What do you want with me?"
"I was simply protecting you from danger. From bears."
"You were flying around in the sky and then you appeared out of nowhere and carried me away!"
She nods.
"A-And you flew with dragon wings and...And..And..."
"Yes."
You gaze into her icy blue eyes. They're not inviting, they're cold, but you feel like you can trust her. The feeling is so strong that you almost instinctively reach for her hand.
"So...What do you want from me?"
"I was not hoping for anything from you. If you would like anything from me, you have but to ask. I always welcome visitors. But if you would like to leave, I won't stop you."
You study Luna. Her long, curled black hair and pale skin. Her high cheekbones and slender nose. She's so beautiful.
"A-Actually, can I..." You blush deeply. "Can I stay here..With you...?"
Luna smiles warmly.
"Of course."
Luna steps up towards you. Her eyes meet yours. Her head is barely inches away from yours.
"I'll keep you safe, ${character.name}."
You smile and nod.
"Thank you, Luna."
