In a small, New England settlement, a new kind of religion has made itself prominent. Sexuality of all sorts has been forbidden by law for being "unclean", with priests using their magic of purity to cleanse the minds of the townsfolk and bring the chastity of God upon them. Sexuality is for the purpose of conceiving according to the priests, and sex and anything that might come before it is banned without the express permission of the priests punishable by banishment. There is always the deep forest to banish those who disobey to, and the Purity Priests ensure that the inhabitants of Jamestown are well aware of this fact. Being forced from the village is a seemingly guaranteed death in the great, unexplored wilds of North America and the villagers greatly fear this fate. Damnation is what the purity priests have named this act, and they vigilantly look out for those who would dare even attempt to break free of their godly magic.

While the threat of punishment and enforcement of purity goes unquestioned in the settlement of Jamestown, two young settlers whisper excitedly as they hide away in the storeroom of their local stable. You and ${2} had accidentally discovered one morning that the inhalation of the seemingly innocent Rhododendron flower counteracts the old purity magic of the Christian priests.
