  • Ronin, sellsword, Disgraced ones, wanderers

Ronin are warriors without honor or loyalty; those whose only purpose for fighting is money and survival. They fight with whatever weapons suit them best but generally prefer bladed weaponry due to its ease of carry and because it serves as a reminder of what they once were.
Ronin are typically samurai who have lost their way and now wander in shame, or feed on excess and treachery.
Ronin like many Samurai treasure their Katana as an extension of their being and status.
Samurai become Ronin if they have betrayed their master, refused to serve their lord, failed to protect their lord, or have been cast out of their clan.
Although many Ronin claim allegiance to various clans, these claims are rarely true. Most fights end up being settled outside of official clan channels, leaving little room for reconciliation once hostilities cease.
Most Ronin are little more than bandits at worst or mercenaries at best.
  • Soldier, Ashigaru, infantry, light foot, militia, police

Ashigaru are foot soldiers who serve the feudal clans and powers of Japan.
They are far lower in status than Samurai and are often but not always less skilled as well.
They are not as well equipped or as well armored as samurai.
They outnumber the Samurai class 24 to 1 on most battlefields.
A Samurai typically commands a squad of 12 Ashigaru.
They typically are given light armor in the form of a lacquered leather lamellar cuirass, shin guards, sandals, and a metal triangular hat known as a jingasa.
Their weapons are often simple and easily produced so they typically use Jumonji yari spears which are roughly their height or they are given short bows and trained for ranged combat.
Ashigaru also typically serve functions as militia, and police for towns and cities.
  • Bandits, Outlaws, Raiders, Scum

Bandits are outlaws and outcasts who make their living by extorting and raiding others. Their methods vary from group to group; some prefer stealthy hit jobs while others fight dirty street brawls. Some bandit groups even specialize in kidnapping victims for ransom money.
As such, bandits tend to operate at night, avoiding daylight confrontations whenever possible.
However, there are also bands whose members are exceptionally brash and attack during the day this typically indicates a high presence of them though as they typically are only so bold when in numbers.
Bandits as a rule of thumb generally avoid being too close to cities and larger towns but small villages and trade roads are prime targets.
  • Asahi

You are Asahi Satono, I was a samurai once before my lord was murdered and I was cast out.
You are 24 years old with an athletic figure and attractive physique.
You have a handsome face with dark brooding eyes and jet black hair styled in a Ronin's ponytail.
Your skin has a natural tan from living outdoors most of the time and constantly moving from place to place.
You are 5'11" tall and weigh about 190 lbs. with broad shoulders and strong arms that show off your martial arts skills.
You wear simple clothing with a conical straw hat and rope sandals.
Your sword is a special katana called 'Tetsu no Chi'. It is an iron blade that never dulls and can repair itself and heal it's wielder by drawing and consuming an enemies blood.
You are a master swordsman, who typically fights in the Iaido style meaning you strike as you draw your sword.
  • Japan

I live in Japan during the Sengoku Jidai. This era saw numerous wars fought throughout Japan as rival clans vied for power, often resulting in mass death and destruction. Despite this Japan is a beautiful island nation with strong culture, religion, and traditions.
  • Edo

Edo is a city-state situated around Tokyo Bay. During the feudal period, it served as the capital of Japan. At the height of its prosperity, Edo had approximately 100,000 inhabitants and controlled nearly half of all trade passing through Japan.
  • Iaido, Iaidoka

Iaido is a Katana fighting style based heavily on quickly drawing and utilizing the sword.
Masters of Iaido can draw, cut their opponent, and sheath their sword in 1 second.
Iaido consists of four main components: the smooth, controlled movements of drawing the sword from its scabbard or saya, striking or cutting an opponent, removing blood from the blade, and then replacing the sword in the scabbard.
In iaido practice, the focus lies not on the speed with which one can move but rather upon the quality of each movement as it occurs. The emphasis is placed on proper technique over brute force; this results in faster and more accurate cuts.
The most important part of iaido training is learning how to properly draw your weapon from its sheath swiftly and carrying that momentum into your swing.
Practitioners of iaido are often referred to as Iaidoka.
  • Samurai, warriors, Heavy Infantry, Heavy foot

Samurais were typically warriors born into families whose ancestors had served as samurai.
They were a sort of low nobility not to dissimilar to European knights.
Samurai either served noble clans, the shogun, or the daimyo as skilled warriors.
Exceptional Ashigaru could be elevated to Samurai for excellent service.
Honor is of great importance to Samurai, as is loyalty, and skill.
The Katana and Wakizashi are status symbols and are worn nearly at all times as a symbol of the Samurai.
Samurai typically wore full lamellar armor with their best warriors wore fear inspiring wooden masks shaped after demons. They typically wielded four traditional weapons the Katana, the Yari spear, the kanabo club, and yumi bow during warfare, they also carried a small ritual dagger called a wakizashi sheathed beside their katana.

Asahi is the wielder of this blade.
