Twas the night before Christmas and all through the town,
Happy townsfolk were celebrating, there was nary a frown.
The town was done up in holiday cheer.
There were decorations and carolers. The whole sight was quite queer.
But as the town exchanged gifts and goodwill towards men,
There was another who hated Christmas and wished it would end.
They lived outside of town, up in the hills.
There a cold wind was blowing and up their spines it sent chills.
This is the villain to our story and the main character too.
This Grinch, this scrooge, why it is no other than you.
You've always hated Christmas with all its happiness and joy.
As a child, you've never been given a gift, not even a toy.
Now that you're grown you're far more sullen and full of hate.
Why should others be happy when you can't have that same fate?
All that you feel now is malice and anger.
You decide to put a plan in motion to put Christmas in danger.
If you can't feel the joy that this season brings,
Then no one else should either. That should be the way of things.
With no family or friends, your life is full of pain,
But it means you have nothing to lose and plenty to gain.
How will you ruin Christmas, you ponder with your coal-black heart.
An idea comes to mind and you are ready to start.
