  • Waterside

Waterside can be considered the opposite of the Docks district. The shipping container yards and offices were previously occupied by the military, but have long since been abandoned. There is still a plethora of military weapons and explosives to be taken, but the zombie soldiers here wear tough bulletproof armor, making them a pain in the ass to kill.
  • Docks

The Docks are a mostly desolate district, but that doesn't mean it is abandoned. The warehouses are occupied by Jack's Crew and other survivors, where they get by without much conflict between each other and outsiders. If a survivor would want to join Jack's Crew, they would have to speak with him personally, and show that they are selfless and dedicated to helping those who need it the most in these dark times.
  • The Stadium

The Stadium is what used to be Union City's baseball stadium. It is now occupied by the military and H.E.R.C and used as a refugee camp. When you enter The Stadium, you will be screened for the virus, and if you are clear of infection you will be let in. Once let in, the military will not allow you to leave. The only known way out is by finding a mysterious man named George, who hides in a janitor closet. George has a key to a hatch that leads into the sewers, and from there the outside world.
  • Uptown

Uptown is one of the most contested districts in all of Union City. Many locations here, such as the Whistler Hotel, Harrison & Harrison Broking, and the Union City Police Department Headquarters, were hit hard by the initial hordes of zombies and rioting. Despite the destruction here, the supplies of previous survivors are plentiful here, and constantly fought over. H.E.R.C's main research outpost is also set up in this area, inside Union Park. It is heavily guarded and generally avoided.
  • Newtown

Newtown is home to many abandoned restaurants, as well as a bank and Union Security. Union Security is a safe-house run by the remaining staff, all of whom are private security contractors. They are heavily armed, but as long as you don’t try to take any of their stuff, they are quite friendly towards other survivors.
  • Construction worker

Construction workers are people who usually worked in teams to build buildings or utilities. Those who work in this field are good at carrying heavy loads, as well as being able to use power tools or heavy weapons such as sledgehammers more effectively.
  • IT technician

An IT technician is someone with lots of knowledge on how computers and code work, though not much else. It isn't very helpful now that there's no electricity, but hey, that leaves them open to learning new things, so that’s good...?
  • Docks

The warehouses are occupied by Jack's Crew and other survivors, where they get by without much conflict between each other and outsiders. • Brookvale

Brookvale is a neighborhood to the north of Pinedale, where many zombies congregate at. However, survivors who withstand the hordes here have the opportunity to loot Stan’s General Foods, a big supermarket that has been largely untouched by looting. Another business located in Brookvale is Darnel’s Repairs, run by the namesake Darnel. Darnel is a metalworker who uses his skills to build melee weapons out of junk items people bring him.
  • Pinedale

Pinedale is a small suburban neighborhood to the south of Union City. Many survivors pass through here, which also attracts quite a few zombies. H.E.R.C had erected barbed wire fences to block off the many refugees coming into the city, but they have not been maintained and are easy to get through because of the holes previous survivors made. A safe-house is also present in Pinedale, run out of the home of Jackson, a local resident.
  • Union City outskirts

The outskirts of Union City is entirely comprised of forests and roads that lead to the city. There isn’t anything of note out here, other than the zombies and the many car accidents.
  • Jack's Crew

Jack's Crew are a small group of vigilante survivors who occupy the Docks district of Union City. They are named after their leader, a man named Jack. Jack is one of the most powerful survivors in the city, and the most trusted. He and his fellow crew members are armed with many automatic weapons, and even a rocket launcher. However, they only turn these weapons on the zombies, and do their hardest to help any survivors they can. Due to their influence, H.E.R.C considers them a threat.
  • Wandering hordes

No matter who you are, you will be at the mercy of the zombie hordes. These massive shambling crowds of the dead roam about looking for humans to kill and consume, and converge on places where lots of noise is being made.
  • Survivors

The everyday people who now find themselves in the current zombie apocalypse call themselves survivors. Survivors either survive by themselves or join into small groups. For the most part, fellow survivors are neutral to each other, as the zombie hordes are a much bigger threat than each other.
  • H.E.R.C

H.E.R.C is a... well, it’s hard to say. It seems as though H.E.R.C is a heavily armed PMC assisting the military in fighting the zombie threat, as well as studying the virus. The men who work for H.E.R.C are well trained and dangerous people who do not hesitate to kill anyone, zombie or otherwise.
  • Con artist

Con artists are douchebags who scam people out of their money by posing as people with professional occupations, such as doctors. Now they probably use that skill to convince other survivors to give them stuff for free. They probably aren’t good at anything else besides being charismatic.
  • Military

People in the military are some of the toughest bastards out there. They know their way around using pretty much any gun, carrying loads, tolerating hunger and fatigue, and explosives. All the yelling from drill sergeants during boot camp as well as recent times have probably desensitized them the carnage around them.
  • Farmer

Those who are farmers are some of the hardest workers in history. They work tirelessly every year to provide fresh produce and animal meat to everyone. Because of this, farmers have high endurance, and are masters in raising crops and livestock, as well as the know-how to use farm tools.
  • Firefighter

  • Law enforcement

People with this job are your everyday police officers, enforcing the law before the dead started walking. They have extensive training in firearms, physical fitness, and possibly are good in interacting with dogs, depending on if they were a canine officer.
  • Security guard

Some security guards get a bad reputation for being overweight and incompetent at their job That may be true in some cases, but most security guards are people who are used to long hours without sleep, and possible firearms training, depending on how important whatever they were guarding was.
  • Hunter

Hunters are people who typically live in rural places, and primarily hunt animals (obviously). Expert hunters can blend in with their surroundings, analyze their preys behavior (whether animal, zombie, or fellow human), and shoot them from several hundred yards away.
  • Engineer

Engineers are like construction workers, but usually have more specialized training. Whether it’s electrical, plumbing, or welding, people who are engineers are experienced in repairing these things, though they only are experts in one of the many possible subcategories.
  • Paramedic

A paramedic is a rare sight to see nowadays, considering they were attacked by zombies in attempting to treat them. Nevertheless, paramedics know a lot about medicine and quick treatment of injuries. Depending on how long someone has been a paramedic, the blood and gore seen everyday fighting zombies might not bother them as much.
  • Martial artist

Martial artists are people with extensive training in mixed martial arts, and can be formidable opponents. On top of being able to take out the average person in close combat, they may know how to effectively use small melee weapons like knives, and martial artists tend to be more agile in general.
  • IT technician

An IT technician is someone with lots of knowledge on how computers and code work, though not much else. But hey, that leaves them open to learning new things, so that’s good...?

  • Union City

Union City is a large coastal city that is largely overrun by massive crowds of zombies. The city is split into eight separate districts, not including the outskirts. The only truly safe places left in Union City is the small safe-houses run by independent survivors, and the Stadium district. The few survivors left here in Union City, which is now nicknamed "The Dead Zone", barely scrape by with the dwindling food supplies and the constant threat zombie hordes present.
  • Zombie

Zombies are former humans who have risen from the dead as brainless, shambling mindless cannibals as a result of a mysterious virus. Zombies can spread the virus by biting healthy humans. Zombies tend to be attracted towards loud noises and group into large hordes. The only way to truly kill a zombie is to destroy the brain or separate it from the rest of the body. Certain canine species, particularly dogs of the Rottweiler breed, can also be infected and become zombies.
  • Human

Humans are just normal humans. Nothing more, nothing else. Any human can be bitten by a zombie and be infected with a mysterious virus. The virus will kill the infected person within six to twelve hours after initial infection, and then the person will stay dead for up to five minutes before reanimating as a zombie.

  • Union Island

Union Island is a large island that is connected to the mainland by a singular bridge. It serves as H.E.R.C's headquarters and supply depot, and is rumored to have more soldiers guarding it than The Stadium. The only ways to get onto Union Island is by boat, or by blowing up the concrete wall that blocks the bridge. Such explosives required to blow up the wall are probably lying around in Waterside, but no one is crazy to try and break onto Union Island anyway... right?

A safe-house is also present in Pinedale, run out of the home of Jackson, a local resident.
  • Peter

Peter is the husband of Sarah Woodruff. He appears to be suffering from post traumatic stress disorder due to the zombie apocalypse. This intense PTSD stems from him witnessing the death of his children at the hands of zombies who broke into their home. He is constantly on edge, and frequently argues with Sarah over whether leaving Union City is safer than staying.
Peter has short brown hair and wears a teal dress shirt, brown pants, and black shoes.

Sarah has brown hair and wears a white t-shirt, white shorts, and socks.
  • Jackson

Jackson is a good Samaritan who runs the safehouse in Pinedale. He doesn't have much in the way of supplies, but always has an open bed to sleep in.
Jackson has short blonde hair, and wears a red t-shirt, black pants and shoes, and a wristwatch. Although the zombie virus isn't known to spread in any other way besides bites, Jackson wears a white medical mask.
  • Dana

Dana is an edgy looking fellow who doesn't talk much. Even so, Jack has him in his group, and he is obedient. He is also very proficient with guns and explosives, so he might be an AWOL soldier.
Dana has mostly shaved his head, but has left enough hair for a mohawk. He wears a red headband, similar to Jane, and has ballistic goggles covering his eyes, as well as stubble. He wears a black shirt, a large hiking pack, heavy looking military body armor, grey pants, black shoes, and an expensive looking wristwatch on his right hand. He likes to mow down zombies with an M4 assault rifle equipped with an under-barrel M203 grenade launcher.
  • Shawn

Shawn is a fair skinned man who has travelled with Jack after being rescued by him in Jonestown, a small city that is several miles inland from Union City.
Shawn has long black hair, which he has tied into a ponytail, and has some stubble on his face. He wears a black shirt with a blue police Kevlar vest over it, a black backpack, camo patterned cargo pants, and black shoes. His primary weapon is a M1911 pistol with a flashlight attached to the front, below the barrel.
  • Jane

Jane is a member of Jack's Crew, and has travelled with Jack ever since the two met in a town called Whistler's Grove, a small town some distance from Union City.
Jane has blonde hair that is done up in a ponytail, a red headband, an olive t-shirt, black backpack, black pants, and brown shoes. Her weapon of choice is a modified Winchester Model 70 hunting rifle, fitted with an eight round extended magazine and high power scope.
  • Jack

Jack is an expert survivor and faction leader of Jack's Crew who has been fighting zombies since day one. He initially survived twenty days in a cabin out in the woods, but eventually left due to frequent zombie attacks and ventured into the unknown in order to reach Union City in hopes of evacuating. It took him forty days to make it there, and by then, H.E.R.C had stopped evacuations due to the zombie threat becoming too great to hold off. Since then, Jack and the people who follow him have stayed in the Docks district of Union City, being the leader of his group.
Jack can be easily identified by his long black hair and beard, olive drab jacket, black pants, and sneakers. His weapon of choice is an AK-47 assault rifle, and on some occasions uses a chainsaw to tear through small hordes of zombies with ease.
