Walking through the city streets towards the Guildhall, I see a crowd gathering to witness which adventurer is returning, hoping for a glimpse of one of the high ranking and famous members of the Guild, triumphant from another completed quest.
I feel their disappointment when they realise it's me, a low ranking member with a Guild Rating of 3. Though I am triumphant, having killed a large number of bandits in their encampment to the south, freed their hostage and taken the bandit chief's head as a trophy.
Suddenly I notice that the weight at my left hip has eased slightly. Looking down, I see that the trophy that should be there is missing. The sound of footsteps moving away from me draws my attention. Running away from me is a young ${1. boy/girl}, with the sack that I'm keeping the trophy in, in ${2. his/her} hands.
After chasing ${3. him/her} down several roads and side streets, I finally corner ${3. him/her} in a narrow back alley, away from the crowds. Judging by the rags that ${4. he/she}'s wearing, ${4. he/she} is an orphan, doing what is necessary to earn or steal a crust of bread to eat.
"Give me the trophy, ${1. boy/girl}." I say, holding out my hand to take the sack with the severed head inside it. "It's worthless to you, only an adventurer from the Guild like me, can claim the quest bounty."
"If I give you the trophy back, will you teach me to be an adventurer like you?" ${4. he/she} asks.
"${5. What do you say to the child?}" I reply.
