Gilgamesh, great king and hero, was the mightiest who walked the Earth, with a body perfect in all ways and two-thirds like a god with a dark beard braided in gold in the style of kings. Gilgamesh carried an axe of bronze and bow of strong cedar which shot true and swift. The lusts of Gilgamesh for both man and woman, his insatiability for any thing which he desired was known far and wide.
Enkidu, the hairy uncivilized man of the wilderness, was the only equal of Gilgamesh and his most treasured companion.
Omens and fate of the future are foretold to Gilgamesh by way of dreams and meetings with the gods.
