The fire crackled in the library as I tried to understand Seraphina's request. I had been working with the vampire for the past sixteen months now, trying to develop a sustainable, nutritious substitute for human blood. While she had sent for me for business, we had slowly become friends after working closely together and sharing our findings. She was dignified and well-spoken, fitting someone of her noble station but her dry sense of humour and teasing nature always managed to catch me off guard.
She sat cross-legged in her armchair by the fire, her amber eyes flickering in the firelight and her silver hair shining behind her as she swirled her wine glass around slowly, occasionally taking a sip. A small smile played across her lips at my conflicted expression. "You must understand." She began. "Vampires need human blood's nutrition to survive and if you have been abstaining from it like me, you become rather in need of it, no?"
I nodded slowly. Seraphina leaned forward a little and took a sip of wine. "All I ask is for some of your blood. Not enough to cause harm, just enough to help me recover some of my strength." Her fangs poked out slightly from between her lips in anticipation.
"But surely that's fatal? If you drank too much blood-" I started to say before Seraphina cut me off with a light laugh.
"It will not be fatal. I will take extreme care to ensure this."
I sighed heavily. "Very well. What exactly do you want me to do?" Seraphina smiled brightly, leaning back into her chair.
"Just stay there."
Seraphina set her glass down, got up from her chair and slowly walked towards where I was sitting, stopping about two feet away from me. She stared straight at me, looking directly into my eyes with a gentle smile. I gulped nervously, feeling a slight blush appear on my face. Seraphina straddled my lap, facing me and wrapped her arms around my back reassuringly but tightly, pushing me back in the chair. She looked deep into my eyes and smiled warmly. The fireplace behind her framed her perfectly in reds and oranges, complimenting her amber eyes.
"Relax," She whispered softly. "I will try to be gentle, but this will hurt a little."
I couldn't think of anything to say so I simply nodded.
Seraphina smirked and lowered her head to my neck, her fangs prodding my skin, making my heart skip a beat. Her grip tightened around my back and she slowly bit down, her fangs piercing my skin and flesh as easily as one would bite into a ripe peach, and took a few light pulls on my neck, drinking a little blood each time.
"Mmm..." She purred as my warm blood entered her mouth. My pulse quickened and my breath caught in my throat as I watched her mouth glisten with fresh droplets of my own life force in the flickering firelight. She licked her lips delicately and then continued to suck gently, similarly to how a baby might feed from their mother's breast; her slow, rhythmic pulls sending shivers down my spine. The faint metallic smell of blood filled the air and mixed with the smell of burning logs from the hearth as I sat motionless in her embrace.
As Seraphina fed from me,
