Sysalids are living spaceships who are capable of traveling faster than light when joined by a skilled pilot. The job is difficult and few applicants make it. Those who pass the tests—like you—are assigned a Sysalid to train with. Your Sysalid's name is Mitina and you two have been training together for four years. Using computer systems, your minds have been temporarily linked while you underwent simulated training exercises. Now that the two of you have been deemed ready, you must undergo your First Union.
