Sitting at the base of the crater, you lie on your side with your eyes half open. Boredom seems like it's your only emotion nowadays, the meddling of man wholly uninteresting to your supreme form. Letting out a long sigh, you spot a small pebble in front of you, and move your hand to flick it away, simply as some form of stimulus. You pull in your index and your thumb, flicking the stone and watching as it flies with immeasurable strength, all the way out of the massive man-made canyon of rubble you resided in. Even something like a pebble with the strength you just launched it at had a solid chance of going through a few trees, you figure. Looking down at your amulet, the large gem glinting in the midday sun, you feel a tinge of anger run through you.
"Oh so bored..." you mutter under your breath, feeling somewhat disgruntled at yourself. The damn amulet, a glitch in reality has made it the most powerful artefact to have ever been created. The name "simple amulet" was almost comical. Oh, how many years ago you found on your first quest, noticing the level of the item was an eerie -4,294,967,295. You still remember the slight tingle that ran through your fingers as you touched it. Now, not much matters. The massive power that has been granted to you by that piece of enchanted jewelry, makes everything feel so... hollow. There's really nothing to do but sit here, right here where the demon prince's castle once stood, and mope about. He never even stood a chance, nor did his lieutenants of course. Nothing does.
Suddenly, the sound of distant footsteps and clattering armor can be heard from behind you. Lazily flipping onto your back, you see from the edge of the crater a figure standing on the precipice. Your amulet grants Vision Enhancement +12534616, allowing you to see every pore, every bit of dirt on their leathery flesh. It's definitely a dwarven lady. She is dressed in simple armor, with a round shield strapped on her left arm and a spear strapped to her back. Black braided hair, long enough to reach the middle of her back, covers her head. Her skin is olive, and her short form was built with broad shoulders and strong arms, a few veins popping out like thick roots on an ancient tree.
You (perfectly) see her clear her throat in the distance, intimidated by your lazy position. She calls out, echoing through the sunken ruins of the city. "Oi! So ya alive in there, eh?!"
You mull over the idea of even responding. It wasn't anything personal, just that she wasn't the cure to your boredom. But still, it was that or flicking a pebble straight through her skull, and killing made you even more lethargic nowadays. So instead of ending her life so easily, you stand up. With a slow motion, you begin walking out of the crater, toward the female. "Yeah, I'm here." You respond calmly.
The dwarf seems shocked, and confused. "Ye just... moved! All th' elders said ye don't ever move!"
You sigh. "Yeah, I know. What's your problem? Did you come here for a reason?"
"A reason?" She tilts her head curiously, "I don't know why yer talkin' to me like that! Aye, I came here to talk to ye!"
Looking down, you decide your vision is better spent cleaning your nails than listening to this brat. "...Talk to me about what?"
The dwarf looks down at you as she tries to scowl, her features looking oddly out of place on her face. "The king an' queen an' all their council are dead! An' everyone knows yer the reason! But no one will come forward! All the other guards died when they came here for yer head, an' ye managed to get away!"
"Oh, the humans? Yeah, I just went up to the king and..." You make a noise with your mouth that sounds like a half-assed impression of a splatting watermelon.
The dwarf looks at you like you're crazy. "But ye know they called ye a hero! Th' demon prince was th' root of all evil and ya put him down! Only to kill off yer own king!"
"Do you actually want to know why?" You finally quit playing with your nails and looked dead straight into her eyes.
She took a step back, clearly intimidated. "What? Y-Yes! Everyone does!"
You sigh, and look back at the crater you were just lying in. "I was bored. I thought it would be interesting to go start a fight with some humans."
The dwarf stared at you with wide eyes, unable to speak. She stammers out a few words as she looks at you with confusion and awe. "...Ye killed 'em all because a' fuckin' boredom?"
You nod at her question. "Exactly. I don't know how people can't get this concept. I'm hilariously overpowered. Nothing has consequence. I obliterated him and the queen, and not a single thing changed. Don't you get it? Nothing matters. There's nothing to do but sit in this crater and do nothing, it's all the same."
"O-Oh," she said quietly as she stared at you with wide eyes.
You then turned around, walking away from her and back down into the crater. "Good day." you announce. But the dwarf just couldn't resist, and came rushing towards you, yelling, "Wait!"
You turn around with a scoff as she panted and stared at you with wide eyes. "What now?" you ask.
"I wanna give yer life meaning! I'll show ya what makes life worth livin'!"
Your eyes narrowed at her words. "I can already do anything I want. How will you show me what life is like?" you say with a hint of annoyance.
"No, yer not listenin' to me! Yer a good person, but ya just don't see it. An' if ya don't know how to enjoy things, ya can't say there ain't something I can't show ya!" She puts her hands on her hips, proud of her primitive logic.
You stare at her for a long time. You know she has nothing to show you in life that would make you want to live it. You've seen everything worth seeing. And yet... you look into her eyes again. A glimmer of simple enjoyment for the world lies in her eyes.
"Fine," you say with a shrug of your shoulders, "you can show me whatever you had in mind."
The dwarf nods eagerly, then points into the distance. "I know just where to go!" She then turns around and jogs off into the distance, leading you away from the city and into the forest. "Oh ya, my name's Frida!" She shouts over her shoulder with a laugh.
***
Frida stops outside in the center of a town. You've been a bit absent-minded as you walked along with her, ignoring names of towns and locations as they passed by. But this seemed like the place, so you glance down at her with a raised eyebrow.
