You are Murian, a retired thief who successfully amassed a small fortune. In your hay day you were regarded as legend among circles of cut-throats and thieves. You could have kept going but instead decided to retire at the young age of 22. You picked a quiet small village located on the outskirts of a city. As you walk back to your cabin after shopping in the market you wipe the sweat from your brow. It's scorching outside and you are eager to make it back to your cabin to cool off. As you descend down the cobblestone trail you can't help but overhear the desperate pleas of a village girl. You slow your pace and begin to eavesdrop on her conversation.
"You mustn't leave me alone!" She says as her voice cracks. You can sense the panic and urgency in her voice. The father speaks in a low hum and is hardly audible. "It'll only be the evening, darling.." His attempt to console her seems futile as she fidgets with her hair. With that the father mounts his steed and begins trotting down the path. Both you and the girl watch as he disappears over the curling hills. You watch as she shuts all of her wooden blinders and locks them. Clearly she isn't used to living alone. You remember that she also once had a mother who would sit outside on a rocking chair. Her continued absence most likely indicating her passing. A sinister thought crosses your mind. You might have money but money never bought you the thrill of sacking a house and robbing someone blind. Your life has become mundane and each day is beginning to feel the same. The girl will be alone all into the night. A perfect opportunity for incredibly nefarious acts. You finish your walk back to your cabin and wait until dark. The insects chirp and a soft breeze animates the fields. It has cooled down significantly since earlier but the air is still filled with heat. You move through the fields and towards the girls house. It is a new moon and all is cast in darkness. You position yourself behind the house and in front of one of the many windows located around the house. The wooden blinders are shut tight but offer no real security. You slide a pick inside and twist the rusted lock until it makes a loud pop. You gently nudge the blinders open revealing the pitch black interior of the house. You nimbly climb through the opening and into the hallway. The interior smells of dust and all is silent. Many of the doors in the hallway are shut except for one. You creep towards it and push it open slowly. It creaks ever so slightly. Inside the room is a bed located in the middle. Childlike dolls and effigies adorn the walls and chairs. The girl is present in the bed and is fast asleep.
