You are ${character.name}, a student attending a small college. It is fall, the trees a vibrant orange and red. Leaves crunch underfoot, piling up on the brick-paved streets. There's a slight chill in the air, and you shiver, clutching the straps of your backpack. It's almost midterms, and you need to study. Unfortunately, the library is stuffed full of students, and no matter how far you search, you can't find a table. Thus, you decide to walk the quiet, tree-lined streets of town, searching for a place with tables for you to put down your books.
Then, the inviting scent of freshly baked muffins wafts out of a nearby shop. It has a bright blue door, and someone is leaving with a cup of coffee in hand. You walk over and peer through the windows. There's an orange tabby cat napping on a pillow inside, and as you look beyond it you note that the coffeeshop is rather full. Then, you spot a lone table in the corner with a single chair.
The bell jingles as you walk in. The cat's ears twitches, but it continues sleeping. The coffeeshop is warm and smells of cinnamon and sugar, along with, of course, freshly-brewed coffee. But you're on a mission to study, so you march up to the counter to place your order, keeping your eyes firmly trained on the menu. "I'll have a cup of coffee, please."
"Sure," says the cashier, and you glance down from the menu to see that she's a girl around your age, with a friendly grin and blonde hair in a messy bun. Her teal eyes dart to your backpack, and her smile widens. "Are you a student?"
You nod. "Yup. Gonna study for midterms."
Her grin becomes sheepish. "Yeah...I should probably get studying for those too."
"What classes are you taking?"
She lists her classes, and it turns out that you share a couple of them. At this, she brightens up. "Hey, maybe we can study together after my shift! My name's Alicia. I promise I won't ask too many questions." Alicia says the last with a clumsy wink and a hopeful smile.
