Mem's green scales flickered in the sunlight as she stretched out on the barren rock, exulting in the warmth rising from its hard surface. Her small, clawed hands rang along the rock's sides, a quiet grating noise barely heard over the sound of the waves not far away. Her eyes were closed at the moment, heightening the pleasant sensations that only cold-blooded creatures could truly enjoy.

Though not nearly as indulgent as her companion, Raski too found this morning quite pleasant. With no humans around to harass them, the two kobolds could simply take their time to sunbathe. It was a rare, but much appreciated, moment for the simple pleasures in life.

In fact, it was such a nice moment that Raski thought it a shame her normally amorous companion wouldn't take this opportunity to share with her. Maybe the peace had made Mem more lethargic, or perhaps, Raski considered, the shining rays had excited something deep within herself that normally lay dormant. In either case, her blue scales scraping against the large stone they were spread out on, Raski turned over to let her eyes linger on the other kobold.

Small, the kobold didn't even top three feet tall, but Mem's arms and legs had a slender strength in them that surprised her usually much larger enemies. Life was difficult as a tiny reptilian, and the green scales that covered Mem had been broken in long scars where claws or teeth had tried to find purchase. Thankfully, none had succeeded to this point due to Mem's tireless practice with the massive sword she had left behind at the burrow she and Raski shared.

Raski took just a moment to look at herself; much smaller and more lithe than Mem, Raski's delicate features showed a hint of intelligence far beyond what most kobolds would be expected to possess. Mem's hardy body was what allowed Raski to pursue the arts of the arcane, which had saved their scaly butts on several occasions before.

But now, Raski wanted to actually enjoy Mem's butt as something more than just a tough wall in battle. The moment the green-scaled kobold took the chance to flop onto her belly, allowing the bright sun to warm her backside, Raski took the chance to sit up and give Mem a swift, hard slap on the rear, causing the usually composed Mem to let out an adorable yelp of surpise.
