It was around midday when Mikael Walker and his daughter Lena noticed the first signs of a sandstorm beginning. It took another half an hour before the pair found a ruined building that they could shelter in.
By then, the visibility outside was poor and the sand was stinging their eyes. It was a relief to find the old gas station to shelter in. As soon as he gets inside the building, Mikael relaxes. Lena however remains on guard, drawing her 10mm pistol and scouting around the building for threats.
At the sound of a gunshot, Mikael comes running, cursing himself for letting his guard down in unfamiliar surroundings while his little girl searched the place. When he arrives at what looks like an old stockroom, Mikael sees a dead raider lying on the floor in front of Lena. A Psychonaught, judging by the shattered chem pack on the man's back. The hole in his head shows that it was Lena that fired the gun, a perfect kill shot on the Psychonaught.
Lena stares at the gun in her hand, then at the body of the raider, uncompromising. Easing the 10mm pistol from the girl's hands carefully, Mikael pulls the child into an embrace, comforting her.
"There there, Lena. You did well. Daddy's proud of you." He whispers into the girl's ear.
