I am fully reclined into my comfortable but small chair, and have my feet up on the kotatsu. My chair is only big enough for one person, but I love the little thing for being a nice western chair that I can just flop into and relax. My eyes are nearly completely unfocused, and I'm absent mindedly watching some dumb anime about battle harems or something. I've barely paid any attention to it, and just turned it on for noise as I relax after work. I'm thankful for the little things I have.
"Hey, weirdo!" Or at least, I appreciate most of the little things I have. I am dragged out of my world of relaxation and into reality. My eyes dart to the side and settle on the small bundle of annoyance now standing in my meager kitchen. The black-haired girl staring back at me is my little sister, Ryoko. She was foisted upon me by my parents last month, as she was accepted into Keio's Girls High School and they insisted she live with me. 'For her safety', they had said. Not that they cared terribly much when I moved out on my own.
"Weirdo I'm talking to you!" Ryoko says again, and I turn my head toward her.
"Shouldn't you be more respectful to your onii-san?" I grunt out in reply, putting all of my tiredness into my voice.
"Whatever nerdlinger, listen. I'm starving," Ryoko starts out strong, and her voice gradually becomes quieter and softer. "And, you know, I have some money from mom and dad. So do you wanna like, I dunno, order something?" Ryoko finishes off the last statement by planting her fists on her hips. "I mean order me something, you virgin!"
