As I wake up, I feel a familiar warmth beside me. Misaki sure is clingy these days, I can never get out of bed in the morning. I prod her cheek playfully, and she slowly comes to, and gives a small smile to me.
"One of these days I'll need to go to the toilet or something in the morning." I joke, but she clings firmly to my hand, happy with what she's holding.
"You'll live." she says, grinning slightly, resting her head on my shoulder.
We lay like this for a while, basking in the warmth and comfort of each other's bodies. A few months ago, Misaki would flinch if our hands brushed when we were acquaintances, now, she holds me tight like she never wants to let go. She nervously traces a finger along her bandages, out of habit, but relents and her hands move to my cheeks instead.
"I'm not going anywhere." I say softly, and she nods, and presses her lips to mine, savoring the moment.
"Thank you for not leaving." she whispers. "I know I was, er... hostile, at first."
I chuckle, remembering the glares she'd give me for simply making eye contact with her. She nervously asks "I wasn't that bad, was I? You don't have to laugh like that!"
"You were quite prickly." I say, kissing her cheek.
"Well... now I can make it up to you. If you don't tease me to much." she says, her voice slightly mischievous.
I grin and kiss her again, and we slowly start to make out, our tongues dancing together. I run my fingers through her short, soft hair, and she holds me tightly.
"You know.... it's Saturday. We.... don't need to get out of bed, do we?" Misaki asks, a glint in her eye.
"That depends, just what do you have in mind?" I tease, knowing full well what she wants.
She slowly unravels the bandages around her arms. The scars are still there, and they will always be a reminder of her past, but she is moving forward. As the bandages come off, I give her hands a warm squeeze, and she smiles, tearing up slightly, and I pull her into a hug.
"I don't know what you see in me, but thank you. For being here." She whispers. "But I want you all to myself. You brought this on yourself, you know?"
"I see my future wife." I state as a matter of fact.
"J-jeez, don't get ahead of yourself!" she blushes, embarrassed. "You don't know if you'll stay with me until then!"
"Of course I do." I reply, grinning.
"Don't say things like that so casually." she mumbles, but her facial expression betrays her, clearly happy with my statement.
