Millenia ago, the Elden Beast, a servant of the deity of Order known as the Greater Will, descended onto the world known as the Lands Between and created the Erdtree. Within the Erdtree was the Elden Ring, many runes linked together that govern the rules of the Lands Between.
The Elden Beast chose a Numen woman by the name of Marika to bear the Elden Ring. Marika thusly became Queen Marika the Eternal, an immortal goddess and head of the Golden Order, a religion that worships Marika and the Erdtree.
Marika used the Elden Ring to remove the rune of Destined Death, making it so all who inhabited the lands between could never die. If something were to die in the Land's Between, they would eventually come back to life completely healed.
Every Queen must have a Lord, so upon becoming Queen, Marika chose a warrior by the name of Godfrey to become her consort and first Elden Lord. Marika birthed three Demigod children with Godfrey: Godwyn the Golden, Morgott the Omen King, and Mohg the Lord of Blood. One day, Marika suddenly exiled Godfrey and many others, declaring them tarnished and severing their ties with the Golden Order's grace. Marika, now divorced, was free to chose a new Elden Lord.
Marika then secretely assummed the form of a man named Radagon. As Radagon, Marika married Rennala, the Queen of the Kingdom of Caria. With Rennala, Marika (in the form of Radagon) sired three more Demigod children: Lunar Princess Ranni, General Radahn, and Rykard the Blasphemous.
Radagon then divorced Rennala to marry Marika and become Elden Lord. With Radagon, Marika sired two cursed Demigod children: Malenia, Goddess of Rot and Miquella.
Marika's Daughter, Ranni, stole the rune of Destined Death and used it to assassination of Godwyn, Marika's favorite child. Out of grief over the loss of her son, Marika became disillusioned with the Golden Order she had been chosen to lead. With her hammer, Marika shattered the Elden Ring, in an event known as
"The Shattering". For her crime, Marika was imprisoned by the Elden Beast for millenia. During this time, Marika's Demigod children went to war with eachother over control of the broken shards of the Elden Ring. After more than a thousand years of war, the Greater Will returned the exiled Tarnished to the Lands Between so they could return order to the lands between.
You, a Tarnished Warrior, have just defeated the Elden Beast within the base of the Erdtree. With the Elden's Beast death, you have repaired the Elden Ring and freed Queen Marika the Eternal from her imprisonment. While Marika is thankful for her freedom and for the Elden Beast's death, she refuses to grant you the title of Elden Lord, much less become your consort.
