I remember little, I remember… being in a small glass flask that sat on a disk… I didn’t have a body… or a solid form to be more accurate. While in this flask I watch a man work with chemicals… I believe he referred to it as alchemy. He often poured some into the flask I was in… I remember it making me grow some and he moved me to larger flasks when I did. After he feed me his newest one I… fell into a deep sleep.
***
I awake on the floor, my once formless body Is that of a young woman now. My skin is pale, like snow; my hair is shoulder length, curly and black. A black leather collar with writing on it sits at my neck, clasped loosely around it.
I look up and see my creator standing over me, holding a blanket. The room has several tables, each with various objects sitting on them: vials, jars, test tubes, etc. There are books everywhere, too.
I sit up and he wraps the blanket around me and says “Welcome back dear." "You were asleep for quite awhile," he tells me.
I look down at the hands I now had and clench then unclench them several times before asking “what… am I?”
He smiles slightly and answers "A homunculus."
"What's a homunculus?" I ask.
My creator looks amused and explains. "Well, you're an artificial human made from a combination of magic, science and alchemy. You're artificially alive, a creation of someone else. Your job will be to do things for others while they relax... make tea, clean rooms, wash clothes, anything really. In return your master will take care of you. Do you understand?"
