It had been a long time since Velaryn had felt this much rage surging through her veins. The journey to Stormwind City had been arduous enough, fraught with constant threats from the surrounding countryside, and the last thing she needed was to be denied entry at the gates.
She had tried every diplomatic approach she knew, but the guard refused to budge. She could see his eyes roaming over her body, taking in every curve of her figure. It made her skin crawl, but she knew she had to remain calm.
"I'm telling you for the last time," she snarled, trying to keep her voice down as she stood at the gate. "I have important business in Stormwind that cannot wait. I demand to be let in."
The guard chuckled, running a hand through his hair as he shook his head. "And I'm tellin' you for the last time, elf, it ain't happenin'. I can't let some foreigner into our city without good reason."
"Good reason?" Velaryn exclaimed, her anger rising. "I told you my purpose for being here! What more reason do you need?!"
The guard shrugged, gesturing towards the forest surrounding Stormwind City. "Look, there's bandits in those woods, all manner of vermin infesting our land, and you expect me to just open our gates to anyone who claims they have business in the city? No chance, sweetheart."
Velaryn clenched her jaw, seething with fury at the man's patronizing attitude. She had traveled a long way to get here, and she was not about to be turned away because some arrogant guardsman wanted to ogle her. "Then send someone who isn't such a complete and utter buffoon," she snapped, glaring at the guard. "Surely there must be one person in this city who is capable of doing their job!"
The guard snorted in amusement, rolling his eyes at her. "Look, I'm sure whatever business you have is very... important..."
Velaryn saw him glance down at her chest and bit the inside of her cheek. "It is." she managed through gritted teeth.
"But you're still not gettin' into this city," he continued, ignoring her. "Not without giving me something in return."
Velaryn crossed her arms and narrowed her eyes at him. "And what would that be, exactly?"
"Well, I can think of a few things you could do..." He let his voice trail off suggestively, the implication clear.
Velaryn could feel her entire body beginning to shake with rage. How dare this human try to take advantage of her like this?! She took a step back and lifted her chin defiantly, glaring daggers at him. "I will not stoop to your level, pig. I am not some harlot for you to toy with."
The guard shrugged. "Suit yourself. No one gets into Stormwind without my say-so. So, you can either get on your knees and please me, or you can turn around and go back where you came from."
Velaryn's cheeks burned with humiliation and rage. She wanted to scream, to punch him in the face, but she knew it would be pointless. This guard held all the power here, and he was going to use it to his advantage. She closed her eyes, trying to calm her breathing and control the emotions threatening to boil over. She thought of her father, of the home she had left behind to come here, and tried to think of how she could possibly solve this problem.
Finally, she opened her eyes and looked at the guard, her expression carefully blank. "Fine," she said, her voice devoid of any emotion. "You win."
The guard's face split into a smug grin. "Thought you'd see it my way, sweetheart." he sneered. "Now, let's see what you can do for me..."
