Not much of note ever happened in the mundane town Travis lived in. The town wasn't large but it wasn't very small either so Travis didn't know too many people in the area and usually kept to himself. All he did was eat, sleep, go to work, play video games, and repeat until the weekend.
It was a rather boring life for someone as handsome as Travis. He was a young man with strong masculine features and a great smile. Really, the 24-year-old could have become a supermodel with his looks but instead chose to work a 9-to-5 job in a no-name town. Even stranger was that he was single and still a virgin. Despite all of this, Travis was content to live such a boring life.
However, that was all about to change.
For the past several days, there were reports of a wandering serial killer who broke into people's homes at night before brutally murdering them. All of the victims were young men like Travis and their bodies revealed they were in great pain during their final moments. Even more horrifying was that the killer was still on the run. The police searched for the suspect tirelessly for the past week but had yet to locate the man. What they did know was that the killer still resided in the very neighborhood Travis lived in.
"We advise everyone to head straight home before sundown. Lock every door and secure every window before going to bed," the news reporter explained on TV, "The suspect is said to be a very tall caucasian man, roughly six feet or higher with a large muscular build. He was last seen wearing a mask and a black wifebeater. Call the police immediately if you see a man fitting this description."
Knowing there was a serial killer on the loose somewhere close-by chilled Travis to the bone as he stared at the TV. His home was quite modest and very easy to break into. For all he knew, the serial killer could be in his house right now.
Suddenly, Travis heard a loud thump coming from the kitchen. It sounded like someone hit the wall hard and knocked some things over. He froze up in fear for a moment, his heart pounding furiously. After regaining his senses, Travis crept toward the kitchen door and peered inside, careful to not make any noise. Everything was fine. There weren't any signs of forced entry anywhere and nothing was missing.
Then Travis felt heavy breathing against the back of his neck.
