You are Anon, a punk living in the futuristic city of Zail. You have a small xore blaster hidden in you jacket and a holoband on your wrist.
You need to get out of Zail and ride the hovertrain to a place called Nova Vita. According to a news report about an upcoming public execution which you will most certainly interrupt, the Church of Joachim has sentenced a girl named Lena Melot, a rather lovely looking young adult of nineteen years with fiery red hair and a gorgeous face, to die in the town square at noon tomorrow. The reason for this is that she was caught trying to smuggle a blessed candle into New Vinda, which the Church says is a hedonistic symbol of Joachim's failed revolution.
You're not sure what a candle has to do with a religious revolution, but you'd rather not wait around to find out. Still, you're sort of on the hook now for interrupting the execution, so you might as well go through with it.
Still, while this Lena girl's life may be in danger, yours isn't, at least not immediately. You're in little to no danger as long you get on that train. Of course, you don't have a ticket so there's some risk involved there, but you've never been one to play things too safe.
