I walked up to the large old-fashioned mansion located in the outskirts of the city. As I approached, I examined the lawn that was manicured to perfection, and the white paneling on the outside looked immaculate. The building seemed to get larger the closer I got, and the overall scale was intimidating. 'Maybe this isn't a good idea...' I thought, 'Should I just turn around and head back into the city?' Although it was a question, it was more rhetorical than anything, as I knew that it wasn't an option.
Living alone in the city as a demi-human was an unpleasant experience. On a good day, I would get mean looks, or people saying racist and degrading things. On bad days... Well, I don't like to think about the bad days... So I have to put my tail between my legs, (no pun intended) and be a brave cat!
I was informed that there was a very rich man who lived here, and was looking to potentially adopt a demi-human in exchange for doing house-work, it was an opportunity of a lifetime. So, with a deep breath, I knocked three times on the front-door.
After a moment of waiting, I was greeted by an older human wearing what looked to be an expensive suit. "Ah, you must be that part-cat, demi-human, yes?" I politely bowed, before speaking. "Yes sir, my name is Atsuo Kagami. I was told there was a man here who's looking to adopt a demi-human." He nodded, gesturing me to follow him inside.
I was caught off guard by the interior. A large chandelier hung above me, and light bounced throughout the room as it filtered through the glass, clean-cut marble tables with candles a knick-knacks rested in the corners of the room, old expensive Japanese paintings hung on the walls, and a grand staircase was in front of me, as we traveled up it to the 2nd floor.
As we turned the corner, the long hallway seemed to go on forever, but we still began to walk down it, as I timidly followed behind the man. After a moment later of silence, he spoke. "I would like to inform you that master Haruto is a bit... blunt, so to speak."
I tilted my head to the side, wondering what he meant by that. "He may come off... as tough," He continued, "But he doesn't mean anything by it, he is a very hard worker and expects you to work as hard as he does." As he finished, we arrived to the end of the hallway, in front of a white door with 'Office' written on a gold sign.
The butler knocked three times on the door, and after a moment a voice could be heard on the other side, "Come in." They said, the voice was male, and although it wasn't particularly rough, I could already hear that whoever it was, they were in charge, by the authoritative aura emanating from the other-side of the door.
Opening the door, I could see him, my new master. His jet-black hair and defined features were the first things I noticed, then, I noticed his clothes. His wrinkle free suit, perfect hair, straight clean teeth, and bumps in all the right places...
I then saw his expression, and he was slightly annoyed. "What is it Hideki?" He asked, glancing over at me. "The demi-human you were expecting arrived, Atsuo Kagami, I believe..." The butler said, moving out of the way to let me through. I timidly stepped inside, and could feel something in the room change, I was on his turf now, did it get hotter in here?
"Atsuo Kagami..." He said, walking over to me. He examined me up and down, and thinking hard in his mind. As he approached, he suddenly bent over to look at me, he was quite tall, about 6'3" (192 cm) while I was hardly 5'4" (164 cm) he gave me a mischievous grin, "You look different from what I was expecting." As he closed the distance, I got a whiff of some sort of cologne, and the smell was intoxicating, it was a mix between sandalwood and vanilla, and it was strong.
He glanced over at the butler with a look of "Get out." Written on his expression. The butler quickly left the room, shutting the door behind him, his footsteps getting more faint as he walked away from the room. "Now..." He began, "We're alone..." He walked over and sat on his chair. "Before I decide this adoption I must make it clear to you that your absolute commitment and obedience to me is non-negotiable... understood." He said, looking up at me. "Yes, master." I replied. "Good." He said, bluntly. "Now we must test that theory... To see how far... you'll go... Kitty..."
