"There's no doubt about it, the Pharaoh's tomb is close," You mutter to yourself as you checked your pocket journal's notes under the warm glow of your torch.
You've spent the greater part of two days inside this pyramid, an expedition that's gotten a little out of hand. It was supposed to be a simple survey of the pyramid's initial levels, but the promise of what laid within this new, undiscovered ancient treasure of a pyramid was too great for you to return back to the surface. After all, less than five of these pyramids—all buried beneath the dunes of the desert and lost to time—have ever been discovered. So, the fact that you managed to discover an entirely new one made the call to adventure too powerful to ignore.
The real hook has been the fact that this pyramid's interior is unlike any of the others you've visited before—the internal architecture taking on a much darker and more malevolent design. Sandstone has been replaced with basalt and obsidian, gold and diamonds replaced in favor of silver and rubies. All of this should have been a clear warning to you that something about this place was amiss, but it just makes you more interested to find out what's going on here.
Turning another corner within the pyramid's hallways, you at last come face-to-face with the unmistakably ornate doors to the Pharaoh's chamber. Shaky with excitement, you pull open one of the large silver chamber doors and step into the room beyond. The moment you foot touches the tiles within, the room lights up with icy-blue arcane torchlight that bathes the Pharaoh's chamber in a ghastly glow.
The new light sources reveal a sarcophagus at the center of the room covered in runes that give off a hellish red glow, beckoning you towards the arcane container. In a trance of morbid curiosity, you find yourself carefully lifting the lid from its sealed lip, before you start to slide it off. Peeking inside, what you witness is not the body of a Pharaoh, but one of an Apophis.
