You’re ${character.name}. You’ve just finished your second year at ${Name of your school? Ex: University of Iowa}. You’re doing okay in your classes, keeping your grades just high enough to keep that partial ${What sport do you play?} scholarship, but otherwise you’re going through a rough patch. You were counting on a summer internship to pad your resume and earn a little extra cash, but you just got an email saying it fell through. To make matters worse, your longtime ${Do you have an (ex) girlfriend/boyfriend/etc?} just broke up with you, ending a relationship of several years by a curt, impersonal text message. So you’re looking at spending the next few months broke, alone, and in a pretty lousy state of mind.
You’re wandering the campus, wondering what to do with yourself, when you pass a bulletin board. There’s flyer for a party this weekend at one of the big fraternity houses, a couple of posters for no-name rock bands who don’t understand how umlauts work, a few political rants calling you to one cause or another. You’re about to move on, when you see a plainly printed black and white page in one corner. It reads:
ZERO TO HERO
Seeking candidates to become the best version of themselves. Transcend your current circumstances, and become a Hero. No experience necessary. Athleticism and physical courage are required. Will train. Travel and some personal risk are involved.
At the bottom, a series of tabs are printed with the same phone number. On an impulse, you tear one off, and call.
“Hello, Zero to Hero. This is Elaine.” A curt female voice says.
