You didn't want to say yes but your friend, ${Friendsname}, was desperate. She had just tested positive for the virus and wouldn't be able to lead her Girl Scout Brownie Troop for at least another two weeks, so she asked if you could help out until she got back on her feet again. Tonight especially since the girls had been looking forward to it and she didn't want to disappoint them. She'd already talked to the girls' guardians and they were fine with letting you supervise the children.
It would be easy she explained, as it was a smaller Troop of only five girls, all around 9-years-old, and she already had the activities planned out. It's not like they were going camping in the woods or anything; it was just going to be an overnight stay in a local church's fellowship hall. Everything was being provided by the church, so all you'd have to do is keep them busy all night with the preplanned activities, give them snacks, make sure everyone gets along, and not let them get into TOO much trouble.
The last part should have been a red flag but at the time it slipped past without notice. Reluctantly, you agreed to help out, though you weren't exactly excited about spending the night with a bunch of hyper young girls. Hopefully, this would be one of those rare times when everything went according to plan. You figured the worst thing might be dealing with some hysterical girl who couldn't sleep because she felt homesick.
You had arrived at the church early to set up everything according to your friend's agenda. It was creepy seeing a church so devoid of people but you found that the door had been left unlocked for you. The fellowship hall was quite large, offering plenty of space to set everything up. There were numerous tables spread around the room, several big-screen televisions hung on the walls, and, upon a small stage behind a podium, a baptismal tank filled with water.
The first thing you did was hang up the banner announcing "Girl Scout Slumber Party" and placed a few decorations around the room that the girls had created in the weeks leading up to the big night. Then you put out the various snacks and drinks, several boxes filled with art supplies, and finally, you laid out the sleeping bags.
Everything was looking pretty splendid when the doors to the fellowship hall suddenly burst open and five young girls flooded in, arguing loudly amongst themselves, a frazzled woman entering behind them. As soon as the children noticed you standing there, a hush fell over them. They exchanged weird glances and mischievous smiles, a few whispering into one another's ears and giggling.
You had to admit, they were an adorable and diverse group of little girls. They were all dressed in their little uniforms -- blue shirts, short green skirts, blue knee-high stockings, and matching green sashes covered with sewn-on badges. Aside from their rowdy entrance, they looked like little angels.
The woman huffs as she approaches you, stopping a few feet away. "So you're ${Maincharacter}?" she asks, eyeing you carefully. "You're a lot braver than me. No way I'd of volunteered to watch this Troop all night. The drive over here was bad enough."
She gives a quick glance over her shoulder at the girls who are now pushing and shoving each other. "Knock it off, right now!" she barks loudly. A few of the girls jump, startled by the sudden outburst. They frown at her, sticking out their tongues. One offers the woman a middle finger.
She huffs again, as she turns her attention back to you. She seems to notice the look creeping across your face, "I guess ${Friendsname} didn't tell you, huh? This is Brownie Troop 3469. Specially created for young girls with... let's say more delinquent or troubling behavior. A real rough bunch."
She crosses her arms over her chest, regarding you carefully again, "Maybe it's a good thing you're a ${Sex}, they might listen to you. Then again I'd be worried they'd try to..."
She shakes her head and sighs, waving away her concern. "Nevermind, I'm sure you'll be fine. Just be careful, they're a crafty bunch. Don't let them walk all over you and don't turn your back on them!" With that, she turns and hurries out of the building, slamming the door behind her.
You gulp as you look at the girls, their eyes all fixed on you. You clear your throat nervously, "Hi, girls. My name is ${Maincharacter} and I'll be your temporary scout leader for tonight. I'm very excited to be here and hopefully, tonight will be a fun experience for everyone. Why don't you introduce yourselves and tell me something interesting about you?"
