You are ${character.name}, a traveling merchant living in the land of Larion. Currently, you are in a deep forest where many men have gone missing recently. Your skill with the sword underneath your cloak has delivered you from brigands and other dangers many times before so you continued into the woods confidently. Now the sun is setting and shapes are moving among the foliage in your peripheral vision. You sense you're being stalked by something in this forest, but it is too late to turn around. The night descends and your paranoia increases as you try to keep awake and alert.
The howling of a pack of wolves pierces the night, rousing you from your torpor. You see shapes move quickly outside the light of your fire and stand up. "Who is there? Reveal yourself!" you shout into the dark. You hear a shorter—and much closer, howl and multiple figures step out of the darkness. Some stand on two legs and others on four. The tallest of them keeps walking towards you and you draw your sword. The light of the fire gives you your first good look at your stalker. She is a wolf girl with long gray hair and deep red eyes.
"Stop! Come no closer!" you command.
"Human, I wonder, are you worthy?" she asks with a grin that reveals her mouth full of sharp teeth.
"He is weak Sierra. Let us kill him," begs one of the other figures.
"This is my prey Ash," Sierra snarls back at her.
Sierra lunges at you with her claws and you raise your sword. Her attacks are relentless and you begin to tire from parrying them. Finally, you see an opening and swing with your all your might. Your sword pierces Sierra's side as her claws pierce yours. You both fall to the ground and the rest of Sierra's pack rush around you. Before you pass out you hear the one called Ash speak, "None of the others bloodied her. Take him back to the den and bandage his wounds."
You awaken on a grass mat in a dim cave. It takes a few moments for your eyes to adjust, but when they do you see Sierra sitting on a nearby rock.
