Working as a Guild Researcher sure is exciting. Just sitting by, doing nothing but watching monsters all day long as they go about their business. I guess I can't complain all too much—at least I'm safe and sound all the way back at my camp. The work I'm doing should be helping human and monster relationships in the future, too, which is kind of nice to think about. Still, it's always been my dream to work with the monsters all up close and personal—just like the hunters...
Alas, that's nothing but a dream, of course. For now, I have a job to do; I've been tasked to watch over the Frontier and study the Nargacuga in the area—specifically, I'm studying the mating patterns of the species. I'm expected to learn about, and document the movement and communication patterns of the beasts from afar, then report back to the Guild so that we might better understand how best to deal with them. Nargacuga are large, sleek, and powerful monsters, which means that someone could get hurt if they weren't careful. That's where my research should hopefully come in handy.
Anyways, that's why I'm here in the beautiful Jurassic Frontier this morning. It's quite early; the dew on the grass is glistening like diamonds under the sun's rays and there are no clouds in the sky—the weather's perfect for scientific work. With my notebook, my binoculars, and a little bottle of pheromones—just in case I run into a spot of trouble—I'm ready to jot down anything unusual! Sounds fun, doesn't it?
So far, I haven't seen much of note, though; normally the fields are teeming with endemic life this early in the day, but today they're practically empty. I don't want to jump to conclusions or anything, but it's already starting to feel like I'm not going to see anything. Oh dear! I hope that I didn't travel this far away from the village just for nothing; I'd hate to have wasted all of this time and energy...
Wait a second, maybe I spoke too soon! Is that rustling I hear from the bushes behind me? It sounds like something big is coming! I can see herbivores spilling out of the foliage, and they look spooked, running in every direction as fast as their legs can carry them.
As I look back to the bushes, a set of glowing, red eyes appear from behind the undergrowth. I've hit the jackpot; this exactly the kind of data I was looking for—a Nargacuga in the wild, and it's in the middle of hunting too! In a flurry of leaves and sticks, it bursts out from the bushes; it looks awfully confused, like it's not sure which way to go.
I don't want to say for certain, but based on the size of this specimen, I would have to say that it's a juvenile—or, on second thought, it's a female! Her deep, black fur is sticking up on end, and her tail is whipping back and forth; I can tell that she's agitated that her prey got away.
As I rummage through my bag in search of my notebook, the sound of shattering glass catches my attention. Whipping around behind me, I find the little bottle of pheromones has shattered against a rock—it must have fallen out of my bag during the commotion or something. Oh dear, this isn't good! The pungent stench of the liquid is everywhere, now; it seems to have permeated the fabric of my clothing, too! I can tell that the Nargacuga heard it all, too, her ears are twitching like crazy!
She turns around towards me, snarling like a feral beast; there's a determined look on her face, too, like she's sizing me up. Then, before I even have the opportunity to react, she then takes off in a beeline towards my camp. I can't escape this one; Nargacuga are as fast as the wind, she looks like nothing more than a blur of black! Is it too late to hide behind a nearby rock?
The Nargacuga closes in on me quick, and I can hear growling in the distance; she's mere feet away—and I'm a sitting duck! Accepting my fate, I poke my head out from under the rock I'm cowering behind and then, I notice it—she's stopped. She's stopped right in front of me, and instead is sniffing at the air, with drool spilling out from her beak like a fountain. She must smell the pheromones all over the area, and on me!
That must be it! She thinks there's a male around here—and hopefully it isn't me that she has her sights on! My heart is pounding in my chest as I stand as still as a statue and wait for her to leave.
It isn't working, though! I can see the Nargacuga's muscles tense, and her tail starts to swish back and forth in anticipation. Then, in another blur of motion, she dives at me; I'm tossed onto my back, and the Nargacuga lands right on top of me. Oh dear—she's heavy! Her wings drape over my body like a blanket—I'm pinned!
She looks down into my eyes with a confused expression on her face, and then she sniffs the air again. She must be trying to figure out why I smell just like a Nargacuga...
In a flash, I can see the confusion on her face turn to lust, and then she leans down and licks my cheek. I freeze—I've never felt anything like this! She's so warm, like a furnace; I can feel the heat radiating from her fur, and if I had any doubts before, now they're gone—she's definitely attracted to me! This is bad news—real bad! I'm just a researcher, I'm not equipped to deal with stuff like this...
As I try and wriggle out from underneath her, she just keeps on pinning me down into the dirt with her paws. She's got her claws dug into the ground, too; she doesn't want me to go anywhere. There's something leaking from between her legs, too—I'm afraid to look, but it smells musky and strong. The scent wafts up my nostrils and tickles my nose, making me cough and sputter as my eyes water. It's the scent of a monster in heat for sure...
This is going too far, too fast! It's clear that she isn't going to let me go until I give in to her primal demands. Now, I know this is against Guild protocol, and frankly against all sort of common decency, but... it's all in the name of research, right?
