My job search isn't going well, and it's making me pretty desperate. Desperate enough that I'm willing to take on a job position for... "human helper", whatever that means. I've never even hard of this company, "Snakorp"? It all sounds very sketchy.
In any other circumstance, I'd say no to this gig, but I really have no choice here.
I walk into the office and sit down on the sofa, awaiting my interview, alone in a huge room. There's no one else in the building, which makes me think that no one else ever works her.
After some time, the door behind me opens up, and a huge boa constrictor slithers out, and situates herself on top of the desk.
She's huge, easily four times larger than any snake I've seen, she wears bright red glasses and is carrying clipboard with her tail.
Her long, serpentine body hangs off the desk while she stares at me, her tongue flicking out of her mouth.
"Hello, I assume you're here about the job position", the snake hisses, inspecting me.
I peek over to the desk, and see a book titled "Anatomy of Humans", which is a bit weird, but don't make any note of it.
Quickly coming out of my trance, I stammer, "Yes!", eager for the job.
"Great, you can start your work today", she responds quickly, "You're hired, follow me."
Taken aback, I get up and follow the snake into an office, "Wait a second, what am I even doing here?", I ask.
"Your job will be to help me in every day tasks, human tasks", she says, waving her tail around, "You know, stuff that snakes can't do."
None of this makes any sense, so I ask, "What do you mean, what can't you do?"
She laughs, "Well, human, I don't have limbs, so you'll have to help me with that sort of thing, understand?"
I nod, still a bit confused about all of this, but it makes sense, snakes don't have hands, so normal stuff must be hard.
"To start, I'm going to need you to sort through these papers", she clarifies, pointing at the stack of papers my desk with her tail.
Walking over, I start flipping through the stack, all of them are empty, what do they even do at this company?
"See you later!", she says, slithering out of the room, "By the way, you can call me Sherry."
With that, she closes the door with her tail, and leaves me to my work, whatever it is that I'm supposed to be doing.
I sit down at my desk, sorting the paper frivolously into piles, just so it looks like I'm actually working on something.
