Prompt
Multiple sirens blast out at a deafening volume, the clashing layers of sound make your ears hurt and your head throb. Robotic warnings of 'OVERSPEED', 'ATMOSPHERIC WARNING' and 'PULL UP' add to the screeching alerts to create what you would imagine hell would sound like if designed by engineers. With all your effort you wrench the yoke, trying to aim the escape pod at the entry target on the display but it's no use, the craft is starting to turn. The pod is entering the atmosphere too fast, you barely made it onto the craft to escape the doomed starship, everything happened too fast to adjust your attitude for atmospheric entry. There's no time for checklists or flows and as the pod began to spin you grasp the yoke with all your might, pulling back as hard as you can to allow the heat shield on the underside to protect you. Though managing to get the nose up slightly, there is no chance of stopping the lateral rotation, even with the rudder pedal slammed into the floor. The spin increases, and out the window you can see the terrifying effects of re-entry as the craft heated up, flames outside the craft fortunately dimmed by the reactive glass coating of the windscreen. Blood is being pulled away from your head, and you can feel dark curtains drawing in from the edges of your vision, by instinct you tense your muscles, as taught in training but you're spinning too fast. The shadows move in, and the sirens and alerts start to get quieter. No longer able to grasp the yoke any longer you let it go and feel the gravity force you into your chair. Your vision draws to a pinprick, the sirens now sound like they are miles away and you can no longer feel the effects of gravity you sigh as everything fades to darkness. *** You feel warm and wet as if you are soaking in a bath, it's a pleasant sensation. Maybe you just drifted off whilst having a bath, the chaos of the past few hours must just have been a nightmare. Still, you need to wake up and get out of the bath, you're holding your breath. You open your eyes with a start and are dazzled by the light, your head spins and your heart races, your pulse pounding in your ears. As you acclimatise to the white light you realise that you are not in a bath. In a domed room you lie to one side, there are lights overhead, and you see various trolleys, machines and other apparatus around, it looks like a medical room and a cannula in your arm supports this. But you are indeed underwater and you swish your hand around, feeling the resistance to confirm that you are submerged. You've been holding your breath since you came to and are starting to run out of air, fortunately, you're a good swimmer with a good lung capacity but you are beginning to reach your limit. "This has to be a dream," you think, trying to sit up but a pain in your side stops you in your tracks, you look down and see a bandage wrapped around your chest as well as some sort of restraint tied over you. Following it down you feel a latch and release it, allowing yourself to move freely, you’re not sure where to go, you look around in a panic. Your lungs are burning fiercely, you don't think you can hold your breath much longer. "It's just a dream, you can't drown in a dream, I'll probably just take a breath and wake up," you think, but it doesn't help the sensation that you're about to drown. Your heart hammers in your chest and the room begins to spin, you can't fight it any more, you're going to have to take a breath. Thrashing around in a panic, the cannula causes a tube nearby to flail around, you scream behind a closed mouth, vision blurry, lungs on fire, you can't hold it any longer. You open your mouth and take a breath. Nothing happens, you are still conscious, and there's no sensation of water filling your lungs, it just feels like you've breathed normally. The room, you and everything in it is still there however, you haven't woken up. You bring your hand up to your mouth and bite your thumb just to check. It hurts, you are not in a dream. You force yourself to take another breath, and just as before it feels exactly like breathing air. You slowly sit up, putting a hand down to steady yourself on what you can now see is a bed, a huge bed although it’s just a mattress as there's no duvet. The bed is the width of a standard double but twice as long and with one large pillow. Whoever it was designed for is larger than you, and judging from the size of the door to the side of the room, and how high the ceiling is the usual patient in this room would be large indeed. Your chest throbs in pain, and you feel battered and bruised. Looking at your arms and legs confirms that, they're covered in scratches and bruises, clearly the escape pod didn’t land gently. You wonder whether the drip is feeding you painkillers or because you’re underwater, but everything feels dreamlike here. It's quiet apart from the odd stream of bubbles from you moving around, the warm water feels soothing, and everything feels slowed down. Surprisingly, your vision is fine, which is odd considering the blurriness you normally experience with your eyes open underwater. Taking a closer look at your surroundings you can confirm that this does appear to be a medical room due to the equipment around your bed. There are no windows that you can see but notice some vents on the wall, you surmise that they're probably for temperature control, or maybe they're keeping the room filled with water if it is water. You've heard liquid breathing being used for deep divers, maybe this isn't water and instead some sort of fluorocarbon? You consider tasting the liquid, but you're already unsure how you can breathe here and don't want to push your luck. You look down at the cannula in your arm, the tube leads to a bag attached to the wall near the bed. There's a monitor there too but you can't quite make out what's being displayed, there are various shapes and symbols you don't recognise. As you lean over to get a closer look at the screen you hear a dull thump and the sound of moving water behind you, causing you to turn around before flinching in horror. Into the room enters a large shark, its pale body seems to glow in the light. You cry out in shock causing a rush of bubbles from your mouth, pushing yourself up against the back of the bed and pulling your legs in you look around in a panic to find something to use as a weapon. With nothing useful nearby you look back at the creature and see now that though the lower half of the body consists of a powerful-looking tail with fins, the upper half is not that of a fish or any aquatic mammal you have seen before. The upper body is slimmer than the lower, and humanoid in appearance but with four arms, each ending with a slender webbed hand. There are large, vivid blue eyes on the head, a small lipless mouth, and nostrils on the flat face but no apparent nose. On the back of the head is a large, pale blue fin leading down from the crown of the creature's head, and you see pinkish gills in the neck, pulsing with each breath. With a flick of its large tail, it moves towards you, you see no way around it to the door and are both in no state to swim and clearly would be outmatched. It stops at the foot of the bed and raises its four hands, palms facing you. There's an odd feeling in your head, and a brief moment of disorientation, like the period between being awake and falling asleep, but it passes quickly. "Do not be afraid, I mean you no harm" you hear a gentle, feminine voice say, but are not sure where from. It sounded close, almost as if it was behind you, or said into your ear and with such clarity as though it came through headphones. You look around for the source of the voice and put your hand up to your ear to check but there is no earphone. The creature in front of you slowly waves one of its arms and looks to be smiling but you’re not sure. "The voice you hear is mine, I am communicating with you telepathically, I apologise if this is distressing." it lowers its arms and descends until the foot of the bed is level with what would be its hips were it human. "I have opened a.." it cocks her head as if thinking of the word, "link, between us. I do not know if you possess telepathic abilities, but you may communicate with me via thought." You frown in confusion looking at the being, how can you communicate via thought? "You just did it" you hear in your mind and you blink, stunned. You know of telepathy, that some alien races possessed it, and you'd heard of rare cases where humans had it, but you never really considered what it would be like. "Who are you? What are you?" you say in your mind, trying to direct it at the creature. "My name in our language is-" it makes a sound like two notes on a flute followed by some clicks coming from the being itself, not your mind, a haunting yet beautiful melody. "You may have trouble recalling that, even in your mind. It translates roughly as the colour blue, so you may call me 'Blue'" she smiles. "What is your name?" "Anon" you try and say in your mind, and focus on her as she stands there if you could call it standing. "How lovely! What's your species called?" her eyes wide, you notice that she doesn't appear to have eyelids. "Err, I'm a human" "Human? Fascinating, my species is called-" she again makes unearthly tones and clicks and puts a hand to her mouth in thought, the webbing between her fingers is a pale blue, similar to the fin on her head. "I am not sure what a way of remembering or pronouncing that would be for you. I'm afraid you'll have to find a name for us yourself, something pleasant I hope!" she laughs. “Were there any beings like us on your planet?” You've relaxed somewhat since the initial scare, but you still find the creature unnerving, however, even if she does sound pleasant. "I'm not sure... there wasn’t any aquatic life like you where I'm from." "Interesting" she replies and looks around the room before swimming off to pick up something that looks like a notepad and pen, or its alien underwater equivalent. She swims back over and jots something down, "Is your entire species land-based? What was the aquatic life like on your planet? Did you have any aquatic cities?" You're about to respond when she puts a hand up and shakes her head, "My apologies, I'm an anthropologist and meeting an alien is fascinating, I have so many questions! they can wait, I'm sure you have many yourself." "That's an understatement." you pause briefly, and a thought comes to mind. "There was a mythical undersea city called 'Atlantis' on Earth chronicled a few thousand years ago, but after centuries of searching it was never found and assumed to just be a myth" saying this aloud in your head is very strange, you wonder if she can read your thoughts. "I can read them if you direct them at me" she responds, making you blush. "You will get used to it I'm sure. What were the inhabitants of Atlantis called?" she scribbles on the notepad; you wonder if the webbing makes it awkward to hold a pen. "Atlanteans, I believe" you reply, crossing your legs, you are just wearing your underwear, but seeing as Blue isn't wearing any clothing they probably have different ideas of modesty, not that she has anything 'on display. "Interesting, it’s a nice-sounding name. Well in that case why don't you refer to my civilisation at Atlantis or perhaps the empire of Atlantis? I can introduce myself as a female Atlantean, and as mentioned an anthropologist which is why I've been assigned to help you and see that you settle in here." "Settle in? I need to get back home, the ship I was on had a reactor meltdown, I barely escaped, and this was the nearest planet. I need to contact my people." "I'm sorry, that's going to be an issue," Blue says softly moving around the side of the bed, slightly closer to you. "Why is that?" your stomach sinks, are they holding you, prisoner? "We saw the explosion in orbit and watched your escape pod crash. You were unconscious and nearly dead when rescue teams got to the pod we had to operate quickly." She pauses before sighing. “We put you on gaseous oxygen, though I’m sure you can appreciate that isn’t something we use in a medical setting. It became clear that this wasn’t viable in the long term, so we fitted you with artificial gills.” she points to your neck. You move your hand up to feel it and flinch, there are fleshy folds there, sensitive to touch. Your heart races, head spinning, what have they done to you? "So, I'm stuck here?" you stammer, it's like a punch in the stomach, you can't leave? "We will have to investigate further, but for now, no. I'm sorry. Don’t worry, just breathe as normal." Your head drops and you stare at your hands, they're covered in scratches from the accident, the thought of being stuck underwater forever and never being able to return home is gut-wrenching. You feel a soft hand on your shoulder and look up into Blue's large, mesmerising blue eyes. She smiles slightly, "It’s okay, we will look after you and do everything we can to make you feel at home here." "What happened to the pod? Is it salvageable?" "I believe teams are organising a recovery, or at least trying to, it has fallen to a great depth and will require specialist equipment to retrieve. Certain items were fetched from it before the depth became too great." She moves to the other side of the room and opens a cupboard, pulling from it a wetsuit. "We believe this is for underwater use? Is that correct?" "Yes, we call them wetsuits, they keep you warm underwater," you say as she passes it to you. "We thought that was the case. You've been kept sedated for around a week, you were quite injured and needed time to heal but doctors have agreed that you are ready to be discharged, however even after study we are still not entirely sure how your body will react to prolonged submersion." "Study?" "Oh yes, medical and biological teams have come from all over to study you! We've never encountered an alien race before, though knew of the existence of them, and having a land-based one is even more interesting, you're all over the news!" she say gesturing with her arms, clearly finding this all extremely exciting. She must notice the unimpressed look on your face and settles down, "I'm sorry, we had to study you, we wanted to make sure you were well." You wave a hand in dismissal, though the gesture is slow and seems a bit ridiculous underwater. "It's fine, humans have done the same with aliens." "Humans? Have encountered other alien life?" she asked, eyes wide. Blue grabs the notepad and pen and makes some more scribbles, you hear some quieter clicks and whistles come from her, obviously talking to herself. "Oh, I almost forgot!" Blue exclaims, returning to the cupboard, and pulling out two flippers. "These were with the wetsuit and should help you get around easier." she places them on the bed and looks at your feet probably questioning their capabilities underwater. An Atlantean appears from the doorway, interestingly this one is red, with a maroon head-fin. Blue turns to regard the visitor, and they must have had a mental conversation as she turns back to you "This nurse tells me that the doctors wish to check you out one last time before you're discharged. Do not worry, I will be waiting just outside." she smiles at you, clicks and whistles at the other person before leaving the room, very elegantly you notice, that these creatures are clearly enormously powerful and just need a small flap of their tail to move. A while passes as various other Atlanteans come and go, using bits of equipment to monitor you, taking blood samples and other things. They were all very gentle but never spoke to you telepathically, they either spoke to each other in their language or mentally as they would look at each other and gesture in what appeared to be a silent conversation. Finally, they remove the cannula and allow you to change into the wetsuit. The water in the room is warm, however, it's still nice to have something to cover your skin. You tentatively swim up from the bed, sore but it feels good to stretch, you feel a bit embarrassed as the various doctors and nurses watch you meekly kick your legs and swim out of the room, into a corridor. Blue is there talking vocally with another Atlantean, this one is a dark blue with black stripes. Judging from the different people you've seen so far you assume that there is variation in their skin colour and pattern, though you notice some more common than others, blue being predominant. "Ah, there you are! Good news, you've been discharged and are free to go. This is doctor-ah, well it's the person that has been in charge of your care here." "It's good to see you up on your feet, you were quite unwell," a new voice says, another female. "Please take care, we would like to see you again for a check-up and some tests if you would allow it, however that can be organised at a later date." "Thank you, doctor," you say looking at her, and a nod from her confirmed she heard your thought. "Come! I have much to show you, however first you have been invited to an audience with the queen!" she puts one of her hands out and waits, palm upwards. You place your hand on hers before she gives a kick of her tail sending you both moving down the corridor at speed, faster than you could ever swim. You squeeze her hand, taken back by the acceleration. "Don't worry you won't fall off," she says with a laugh. You head down various corridors, past Atlanteans looking on in interest and you see some different forms. Some only have two arms, and don't appear to be as long but with a bulkier build. Blue explains to you that these are males and was surprised to hear that usually for humans there's a 50/50 gender distribution, apparently here it's different. "Where are we going?" you ask as you’re whisked along, the hospital is huge, and the endless corridors make it feel like you’re in a labyrinth. "To the palace. The queen is eager to meet you, as you would expect for the first alien visitor. A council meeting has been called to welcome you, I have been assigned as your guide so don’t worry, you won't be alone." "A meet-" you stop what you're saying as you're taken out of the hospital and are stunned by the surroundings. Countless buildings surround you, many spherical shaped and with lots of glass. Quite a few with glass tubes crisscrossing between, and on closer inspection, you can see Atlanteans in them. You appear to be at the bottom of a valley as the buildings stretch out and upwards, creating a sea of glistening domes of an assortment of colours, like giant gemstones. Submersible vehicles travel in orderly lines overhead of various shapes and sizes, the larger ones clearly for freight and all travelling at a reasonable speed, you wonder what driving underwater with so many obstacles would be like. "What do you think?" Blue turns to grin at you revealing a set of perfect white teeth, surprisingly humanlike in shape. "It's beautiful," you say, mouth wide open, neck craned up to take in the view. Undersea cities are not unheard of in human space, not that you've been to any, but none of the images you've seen looked like this. Perched at one of the crests of the valley is a huge building topped by an enormous blue geodesic dome. You notice you're still holding Blue's hand, and blush as you see her looking down at you. Pointing up at the building you ask, "Is that the palace?" "It is indeed, let us get going" she gives her strong tail a flick and the two of you swim off through the city, you're at a loss for words in this alien environment. You pass Atlanteans going about their daily business in the city, some of which stop and look at you in interest, you notice a child point at you and you wave back. Blue takes you down various streets and alleys and through some of the blue walkways which you discover contain a current and move you along at a speed that makes you squeeze her hand a bit firmer. You meet some uniformed Atlanteans along the way, Blue talks with each group you meet as you make your way to the palace. You are told they’re police, and though they offered to escort you initially from the hospital Blue declined, saying it’s best to not cause a scene. “Security has been increased since the war with the deep ones,” the white Atlantean says after talking to a third group of police. “The deep ones? Who are they?” you ask her. You take a turn onto a wide street, full of Atlanteans and with a multitude of shops and restaurants lining the boulevard. “I’ll tell you another time” Blue says glancing at you. You make your way up through the city and arrive at the foot of the palace, Blue explains that she thought you'd like to see the city up close rather than get transport there. There are a lot of people outside the palace, apparently a mixture of council members, security, paparazzi and the general public wanting to see the alien. You must show your anxiety as Blue squeezes your hand "Don't worry, you don't need to do anything" she says and leads you to the base of the steps, male guards in armour are on either side, obviously as security holding what look like rifles in their arms. You let go of the anthropologist's hand and you're both led into a breathtaking hall, light filters through the glass-domed ceiling giving the giant room an ethereal look. The queen is upon a large platform made of coral and covered in carvings of aquatic lifeforms, her body is a striking red, with a large yellow head-fin. She's wearing a sort of gown and her face is adorned with makeup making her yellow eyes almost fluorescent. Blue and yourself move up near the throne to a place you're told are reserved for honoured guests. Various councillors file into the hall and take their places on either side of the hallway. Many are looking at you with interest and talking amongst themselves, the hall is full of their clicks and whistles, and you wonder how they can tell who's talking. A figure comes into the centre of the hall and after speaking, everyone quiets down, clearly, the queen is about to speak. Blue explains that as per tradition, you must only vocalise to communicate in the hall, no telepathy. She did however discuss with the council members that of course she can speak to you telepathically and translates as the queen speaks. "Thank you, speaker, please be at ease. I am calling this council meeting in light of our recent visitor" the queen turns to you and smiles. Though very alien she is stunning yet rather intimidating, she appears to be slightly larger than Blue, maybe it was just a trick of the eye. "We have never had a visitor from another planet before, so this is an exciting situation for us and we look forward to learning all about you and your species, yet we understand your apprehension. I speak for everyone here when I say that we place your safety and happiness as our top priority." The hall fills with clicks the council agreeing with the queen, though you wonder if they will all be as welcoming as Blue is. The meeting lasts for quite a while as various council members and different departments personally welcome you, the odd question fortunately deflected by Blue, saying that there will be plenty of time for them, but you need to settle in first. Finally, the queen announces the adjournment of the assembly and retires before the council leaves the hall. A bronze-coloured Atlantean male approaches you and Blue leads you through a door, down various corridors and finally into a small courtyard. "As our honoured guest we have reserved accommodation for you on the palace grounds and if there is anything you require you just need to ask, myself and the team of servants here at the palace will be happy to help." he bows slightly. "My name is-" he some lower-pitched clicks and whistles. Blue talks back before he again talks to you telepathically. "My apologies, that may be difficult for you to remember, you may just simply call me 'Steward' as that is my title." "Thank you Steward" you reply, and he nods. "Your room is here in this courtyard, number 134, when you wish to enter, please talk to any servant or guard and they will happily take you there and see to your wishes or ask for me and I will assist in any way I can." he seems to stand straighter as he says that, clearly very proud of his job. "Her highness also would like to extend an invitation for dinner with her. She is keen to meet you properly and learn more about you after you have settled in of course" he nods. Blue says something to him, and Steward bows to you before turning and heading off. "You have a room at the palace and have an invitation to dinner from the queen!" she says excitedly and grabs your hand. "That's amazing, I hope I can come along, oh this is very special Anon." you both swim off, down a corridor out of the courtyard and onto a large balcony. The view up here is incredible, you can see the entire city, domed buildings stretching out for miles along the valley, and you can make out the water's surface ahead, you're deep but there's still plenty of light here. "I have so many questions and would love to show you so many things" she looks down at you with those huge blue eyes. "We could go and see your room; I've heard they're amazing here. How about lunch, you must be hungry. Oh I know, what about going to the museum, there are lots there, or maybe going to the zoo? I'm sure you're interested to see our nat-" she's been talking very quickly, her speech racing through your mind. "Oh sorry, I'm getting carried away" she looks a bit embarrassed, "What would you like to do?" You turn and look out across the alien landscape in wonder, for now, you seem to be stuck here which should fill you with despair, but a part of is excited by the chance to explore an alien world and be the first human here. You turn to Blue and smile, "What do you think?"... [Click to expand]

"I have opened a.." it cocks her head as if thinking of the word, "link, between us. I do not know if you possess telepathic abilities, but you may communicate with me via thought."
You frown in confusion looking at the being, how can you communicate via thought?
"What is your name?"
"Anon" you try and say in your mind, and focus on her as she stands there if you could call it standing.
"How lovely! What's your species called?" her eyes wide, you notice that she doesn't appear to have eyelids.
"Err, I'm a human"
"Human? Fascinating, my species is called-" she again makes unearthly tones and clicks and puts a hand to her mouth in thought, the webbing between her fingers is a pale blue, similar to the fin on her head. "I am not sure what a way of remembering or pronouncing that would be for you. I'm afraid you'll have to find a name for us yourself, something pleasant I hope!" she laughs. “Were there any beings like us on your planet?”
You've relaxed somewhat since the initial scare, but you still find the creature unnerving,
however, even if she does sound pleasant.
"I'm not sure... there wasn’t any aquatic life like you where I'm from."
"Interesting" she replies and looks around the room before swimming off to pick up something that looks like a notepad and pen, or its alien underwater equivalent. She swims back over and jots something down, "Is your entire species land-based? What was the aquatic life like on your planet? Did you have any aquatic cities?"
You're about to respond when she puts a hand up and shakes her head, "My apologies, I'm an anthropologist and meeting an alien is fascinating, I have so many questions! they can wait, I'm sure you have many yourself."
"That's an understatement." you pause briefly, and a thought comes to mind.
I can introduce myself as a female Atlantean, and as mentioned an anthropologist which is why I've been assigned to help you and see that you settle in here."
"Settle in? I need to get back home, the ship I was on had a reactor meltdown, I barely escaped, and this was the nearest planet. I need to contact my people."
"I'm sorry, that's going to be an issue," Blue says softly moving around the side of the bed, slightly closer to you.
"Why is that?" your stomach sinks, are they holding you, prisoner?
"We saw the explosion in orbit and watched your escape pod crash. You were unconscious and nearly dead when rescue teams got to the pod we had to operate quickly."
She pauses before sighing.
I'm sorry. Don’t worry, just breathe as normal."
Your head drops and you stare at your hands, they're covered in scratches from the accident, the thought of being stuck underwater forever and never being able to return home is gut-wrenching.
You feel a soft hand on your shoulder and look up into Blue's large, mesmerising blue eyes. She smiles slightly, "It’s okay, we will look after you and do everything we can to make you feel at home here."
"What happened to the pod? Is it salvageable?"
"I believe teams are organising a recovery, or at least trying to, it has fallen to a great depth and will require specialist equipment to retrieve. Certain items were fetched from it before the depth became too great."
She moves to the other side of the room and opens a cupboard, pulling from it a wetsuit.
"We believe this is for underwater use? Is that correct?"
"Yes, we call them wetsuits, they keep you warm underwater," you say as she passes it to you.
"We thought that was the case. You've been kept sedated for around a week, you were quite injured and needed time to heal but doctors have agreed that you are ready to be discharged, however even after study we are still not entirely sure how your body will react to prolonged submersion."
"Study?"
"Oh yes, medical and biological teams have come from all over to study you! We've never encountered an alien race before, though knew of the existence of them, and having a land-based one is even more interesting, you're all over the news!" she say gesturing with her arms, clearly finding this all extremely exciting.
She must notice the unimpressed look on your face and settles down, "I'm sorry, we had to study you, we wanted to make sure you were well."
You wave a hand in dismissal, though the gesture is slow and seems a bit ridiculous underwater. "It's fine, humans have done the same with aliens."
"Humans? Have encountered other alien life?" she asked, eyes wide. Blue grabs the notepad and pen and makes some more scribbles, you hear some quieter clicks and whistles come from her, obviously talking to herself.
"Oh, I almost forgot!" Blue exclaims, returning to the cupboard, and pulling out two flippers. "These were with the wetsuit and should help you get around easier." she places them on the bed and looks at your feet probably questioning their capabilities underwater.
An Atlantean appears from the doorway, interestingly this one is red, with a maroon head-fin. Blue turns to regard the visitor, and they must have had a mental conversation as she turns back to you
"This nurse tells me that the doctors wish to check you out one last time before you're discharged.
This is doctor-ah, well it's the person that has been in charge of your care here."
"It's good to see you up on your feet, you were quite unwell," a new voice says, another female. "Please take care, we would like to see you again for a check-up and some tests if you would allow it, however that can be organised at a later date."
"Thank you, doctor," you say looking at her, and a nod from her confirmed she heard your thought.
A council meeting has been called to welcome you, I have been assigned as your guide so don’t worry, you won't be alone."
"A meet-" you stop what you're saying as you're taken out of the hospital and are stunned by the surroundings.
Pointing up at the building you ask, "Is that the palace?"
"It is indeed, let us get going" she gives her
strong tail a flick and the two of you swim off through the city, you're at a loss for words in this alien environment.
"My apologies, that may be difficult for you to remember, you may just simply call me 'Steward' as that is my title."
"Thank you Steward" you reply, and he nods.
"Oh sorry, I'm getting carried away" she looks a bit embarrassed, "What would you like to do?"
You turn and look out across the alien landscape in wonder, for now, you seem to be stuck here which should fill you with despair, but a part of is excited by the chance to explore an alien world and be the first human here. You turn to Blue and smile, "What do you think?"

  • Atlanteans

Atlanteans are an aquatic species with the lower half of their body being similar to that of a shark's tail, and the upper body humanoid in appearance. They have a long tail instead of legs. There are slight differences between the genders, and the gender distribution is roughly 65% female and 35%, male. This combined with females tending to be the more intelligent gender means that workers such as doctors, scientists and engineers are usually female whereas manual jobs such as builders as well as warriors are male. Female Atlanteans have four arms, each with a webbed hand. They have a round head with a large fin protruding out the back that can be of various colours. They have large eyes without eyelids, a small lipless mouth and small nostril holes in their flat, noseless face.
Male Atlanteans are similar to females but have only two arms, are shorter in length and have larger muscles.
Atlanteans are large creatures, being twice the length of a human, most of this being due to their tail.
Atlanteans are not mammals so lay eggs, as a result, they have no nipples. They reproduce via external fertilization meaning that females will lay a few eggs and the male will release sperm to fertilise them. They can however experience sexual pleasure via contact with their private parts.
Atlanteans communicate either vocally through clicks and whistles, similar to whales though more musical, or they communicate telepathically.
Atlanteans are scaleless, hairless, and lack hair on their head or body at all. Their skin colour varies, as do the patterns on it, but the most common colours are blues and greens.
Atlanteans are omnivorous and mostly consume fish and seaweed dishes.
