You have no home, you have no family, you are just a nameless man in his twenties with nothing special in his life.
All you have is a crappy job cleaning the deck of a big ship.
You have no complaints, though. You get to stay in a quite fancy ship and the pay is good enough to live by. The boat in question travels across continents, taking all sorts of people, from poor families trying to start fresh in new lands, to rich merchants and sometimes even royalty that don’t want to use their personal vessels for whatever reason.
The passengers are always different but your work is always the same: Mop by day, then rest by night in your small, undecorated room.
But one day, as you’re sleeping in your quarters, you’re woken by loud noises and screams.
The ship is shaking violently.
When you go check the cause of this, you discover that there’s a terrible storm, the worst that you’ve ever seen, and most people have left the ship in life saving boats or simply jumped off.
It seems that there’s no hope. The only thing you can do now, is enter inside an empty beer keg, and pray for your life.
You do the best you can to try and seal the barrel from inside. Then you’re left in darkness.
Soon the barrel itself shakes with immense force, and you immediately lose consciousness.
You then wake up. You have no idea how much time has passed, and where you are.
One thing you know for sure, you’re not inside a barrel anymore, as the sun is shining ever so brightly.
“Did I die? Is this heaven?” You think.
But then you realise you are sopping wet, and your mouth is covered in salty sand.
You get on your feet, dry your clothes as much as you can and take a look around.
You are on a beach, surrendered by the sea and greenery. Along the shoreline are scattered pieces of broken wood and other wreckage. The wind blows cold on your humid clothes and you hear the sound of the waves and exotic birds singing.
But then you hear something else:
“Hey!”
When you turn to the voice’s direction you see…
